Is it one wave for all accept/waitlist/deny?

One wave. Prepare for server crashes (though you can get around them if you open your decision quickly enough).

Anyone have any successful appeal stories to share?

You can check out the Waitlist/Appeals discussion from the last few years. Here is the appeals data from 2023:

2023: APPEALS: 729. APPROVED: 0

The official position is that each UC has its own criteria for admissions.

But the fact of the matter is that competition is more intense at higher ranked campuses, and hence more difficult to gain admission.

Ouch…

Not only rankings that have an influence but the number of applicants since UCSD is the 2nd most applied UC for Freshman students and overall with UCLA as number 1.

Also UCSD has a high number of Selective majors which are extremely competitive.

Wow. Are the other UCs similar in success percentage of appeals?

If appeal information was available, I listed the information in the Waitlist/Appeal discussion threads for each specific campus. Campuses do not keep spots open for appeals and they all do a thorough evaluation before posting decisions so only in rare cases will the decisions be reversed.

Here are 2 more examples for 2023:

UCLA: APPEALS: 1587 APPROVED: 1

UCR: APPEALS: 219 APPROVED: 36

My nephew had a successful UC appeal a few years back but it was a tough process. His appeal was not only based on his qualifications but also that this particular school was his only option based on his very specific interest only available at that school and personal situation which required him to remain close to his family. I get the sense that just being qualified isn’t enough.
