I was planning college visits for the second week of April, and it looks like there is no availability the whole month of April at UCSD. I guess I didn’t realize I should have checked much earlier. Is that typically the case for April (heavy season for decisions). We are still a year out and just exploring options. How far ahead of time should I be scheduling a visit/tour?
Just speculating based on my son’s experience as a tour guide at UCB: they might switch their tour guide staff to doing a lot of admitted student tours in April (which may appear on a separate calendar page for logged-in admitted students), and this might reduce availability for prospective student tours that month. If you are still a year out, you might want to keep an eye on the page and wait until fall tours start appearing.
UCSD is on the quarter system. Student tour guides likely don’t know their April course schedule yet.

This time it would be March 13th
Yes, If they follow the same decision timeline then predicted decision date is Friday March 13.
There’s some buzz about proof of residency forms showing up in portals over the last day on reddit. Anyone seeing that?
People are reasonably wondering why they would ask for that for students who aren’t admitted.
If UCSD cannot determine residency based on the information listed on the UC application, then they will ask students to fill out the more detailed form. They want to determine residency status so they can provide the correct financial aid package for admitted students.
so is it a good sign to get the form maybe?![]()
No sign for admission chances. I would say neutral to negative if they cannot determine your residency.
UC admissions and Financial aid office are separate and do not talk to each other so FA packages need to be ready to go for all applicants.
Nah imma just take it as a good sign
the residency status emails says
“UC San Diego has assigned a California Residency for Tuition Purposes form to the Application Checklist in your Applicant Portal.
Please complete the California Residency for Tuition Purposes form, along with any required follow-up forms, at your earliest convenience.
Thank you,
Residence Deputy
Office of the Registrar
UC San Diego”
Does this mean the residence deputy is reaching out or just forwarding the financial forms from the fin aid office?
If the UCSD Residency Deputy office cannot determine your correct residency status, they want you to fill out the more detailed form.
Does it matter whom is Reaching out but I would assume the Deputy Residency officer since that is whom sent the form?
From the UCOP website:
All undergraduate applicants complete a shortened version of the Statement of Legal Residence (SLR) as part of their UC application. Some applicants have their residency status confirmed immediately based on these responses. Applicants whose residency cannot be determined at the application stage, will be required to take further action either by completing the long form version of the Systemwide Statement of Legal Residence (SSLR) or a campus Statement of Legal Residence (SLR).
This statement is from the UCSD website:
The evaluation of Residency for tuition purposes is a separate process from admission to UC San Diego.
i see, i was curious since you had mentioned the email had no significance since fin aid and admissions operate separately. i had thought it odd since theres like a week (?) left til admissions so it seemed fairly late to still be asking for documents
Not sure why they are Reaching out so late. You could always call if you are concerned or want more answers.
UCSD posted on Instagram about admission decisions making some people think they’re coming out this Friday. Is it likely or will they probably still come out the second Friday of March like last year?
Based on previous year’s, next Friday is more likely but since they do not confirm a date, it could happen at any time.
