@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1 thanks, hopefully my housing message will change for next batch…
Will there be another batch after the one on friday/the one supposedly coming out this week? I’m kind of hoping for it just because I don’t have the good housing message
When I contacted them, they did not specify exactly when and how many more batches will come out. If we assume that they come out every Friday, then April 24 will be the last batch.
I just called and spoke to admissions regarding the “bad” housing message and the lady was like “um, no, your decision hasn’t even been made. Thats just the housing office saying they don’t know.”
LIKE GIRL COME THRU.
maybe it’ll even be in the last week of april, who knows though lmao
anyway, not saying that the housing trick is legit (even though i think it probably is), but it’s so strange how many of us with high gpas are getting the bad housing message, especially since the most important factor to ucsd is gpa… like last year’s thread was pretty consistent in that lower gpa students got the bad one and the higher gpa students got the good one? also, i know that @Anxiety2015 provided 2 good contradictions, but it’s still strange as to how there’s like no contradictions that i can find on collegeconfidential. ive taken statistics before, and even a small sample size like this is sufficient enough for statistics to judge (even though a bigger sample size is of course better)
sorry for continuously bringing up the housing trick, but if any of you guys can find more contradictions, please share! i know someone suggested this before already, but remember to post your decision along with your housing message for next year’s applicants!

like @robgab, i contacted ucsd about the housing trick (via email though) and they either responded irrelevantly or vaguely :-?
the most recent guy said “I can’t comment on the other message as I have not looked at that student account. There is no “housing trick” that I am aware of. All updates on your admission status can be found at http://admissions.ucsd.edu/next/waiting.html”
the other person also said that i haven’t been admitted yet
anyway, i was looking through forums, and i saw on the 2013 ucsd transfer thread (i dont have the link, gomenasai) that some person called a bunch of times and they got a response telling them that the messages differed on whether you applied to on or off campus housing
Well @friedchips lets test that I got the good housing message and will be living off campus. What about everyone else?
Housing Message: changed
Housing: Off campus
Housing Message: Changed.
Housing: On Campus
Looks like there’s a contradiction already.
Housing Message: Changed.
Housing: On campus
(I don’t think there’s a correlation to stating whether you will be living on campus or off campus)
You can search all day and night for contradictions, evidence, or for a confirming/denying response from UCSD. But you ain’t gonna get a for sure answer until notices go out.
Even if the housing trick was confirmed by UCSD we’d still be searching for the exception.
Ya can’t win here.
Well see so that debunks that hypothesis. Regardless, UCSD wouldn’t inform us of a housing trick if there was one. I don’t know if there is, we can try our best to confirm that when batches are released. Until then, go watch tv and study for your classes, or sleep until they are released. I sure know I would prefer the latter if not for having 3 tests this week I-)
Just curious, where did we state that we would live either on or off campus? I can only think of the fafsa that asks that
I have the “bad” housing message and guaranteed admission to the university, so I think ya’ll are all making a mountain out of a … non-existant molehill.
@AAMP31B guaranteed? Wat.
@basAlbus U-Link probably.
UniversityLink gives me guaranteed admission as long as I maintain a 3.5 GPA and complete some X number of classes. Both of which I’ve done, my current GPA is like 3.95 or something. I don’t have guaranteed admission to my majors though, just the University. (I applied for Comp Sci and Comp Engineering)
Any UC-UC transfers get a housing change yet? I still have the “bad” one…
lol, the only way we’ll know for sure is once the decisions come out. (hopefully this friday…with UCSD you just never know honestly smh…) What a thing it’d be if the ppl that got the “good” message were rejected and the ones with the “bad” got accepted haha. Just food for thought ppl lol. My point is basically stop stressing over this stuff…some ppl will get in and some will be rejected, thats how it goes. Of course i wish the best to everyone here. I’m happy i got into UCSB while some other applicants weren’t as fortunate. The key thing for all of us is that there are other UC decisions coming out for us, meaning when one door shuts another one may open. So just relax and wait for decision day! I totally can’t deny that anxiety is starting to kick in with my Davis decision just a few days away. It’ll be hard to decide between davis and ucsb…but it’ll be awesome to have two great options.
Good luck to you all, and i do sincerely hope that for those of you that deem UCSD your dream school get accepted ;D
