I’m a UC to UC transfer with a 3.6 average GPA (My GPA has improved every single quarter…3.4 to 3.6 to 3.8) under the political science major. Do you happen to know the likelihood of me being accepted?
My friend got in as biology with a 3.2 GPA last year
I know several people that have gotten in as engineering majors with 3.0- 3.5 gpa anything is possible.
Before they post notice, doesn’t the page become unavailable?
@amandamarieee I’m also a UC-UC transfer! I think you have a better chance than me. i have a 3.5 GPA and I didn’t get a new housing message. Did you?
UCLA is confirmed to release (at least some) transfer decisions today between 5-6. I really hope SD does too.
@Pcclancer26 Maybe your friend did well in science and engineering courses…it seems I still have hope!
@ttop220 I got the technically “good” housing message. Where are you transferring from?
@Samantha19 Do you process what you say before you say it? Do you realize what a GPA says? It means you’re a hard worker who is studious and concerned about achieving excellence. Although there are people like that who may have a not so high GPA those are not very common cases. Of course a school will judge you by your GPA. You brag about UCLA and Berkeley but I’m 100% sure they do the same. So please…do everyone a favor and just leave the thread.
@Samantha19
I don’t believe a school lacks prestige because it’s name is not well known. Cal and UCLA get a ton of airtime around the nation because of their Pac 10 ties. That obviously gains you much nationwide air time during football season, which is what many US residents spend their time watching.
I dare say when you ask people if they know about Caltech, UPenn, Emory, or Tufts they won’t know which schools you’re talking about, but they are some of the most prestigious schools in our nation. yeah, GPAs aren’t EVERYTHING but I wouldn’t bash a school for holding high standards.
duuude… @Samantha18 dunt let these fools get to ya… U r very right with youre words… I agree 100% dude… their all stupid and immature… UCSD is such a literally bad school and GPA like dosnt even mean anyone is smart!
Evryone has heard of UCLA and Berkeley dude… like people who go their speak so eloquently like u…dude
she must be out of her mind!! UCSD is a dream school for many students nationwide
@sallyyouna She seems upset that her GPA is too low to be considered by UCSD, and was touting Davis as a better school because they supposedly take a broad view of who they are admitting. Even if UCSD is factory farming good GPAs for the most part, it doesn’t mean the quality of their education is going to be lesser than Davis’ for example. I would think their difference in ranks on just about every single college ranking system would demonstrate that.
Okkk everyone calm down please, it’s not like Rebecca’s saying you all don’t deserve to go to this school or something…lol. Let’s not bash people and take things too personally (we’re waiting on college admissions after all.) And best of luck to everyone this evening.
@damnImwaiting smh lol I have 2.9 but the school doesn’t admit anyone with low gpas I don’t get it. It bad school very boring. Everyone there stupid would be smart and good if they admitted my gpa smh dude lol.
@WouldYouKindly yeah dude… i hav a 2.1 GPA but i’m very smart… UCLA dosnt only literally at GPA and thats y their number 1 at rankings. i’m confident becuz im smart dude… you seem very smart too!.. @Samantha18 wats ur GPA?..not like it matters… becuz that dosnt mean your smart…dude…
Y’all need to chill out. Any of the UCs are perfectly acceptable to go to and you will get one of the best public educations available in the country (and the rest of the world). Rankings don’t mean anything when it comes to undergraduate institutions, it’s completely subjective to YOU and what YOU want to do during your undergrad. For me, UCSD is my top pick because they offer a computationally focused physics degree and have an undergrad program for music and arts technology, allowing me to double major in the two subjects I’m most passionate about (actually more like 5 if you count the applied math and computer science inherently involved in doing computational physics). They also have a super computing center which will allow me to research much more efficiently. Perfect for me, maybe not perfect for somebody else.
Different strokes, different folks. Let’s all get along and then party hard this weekend once we’re all admitted.
Haha so much salt here
@amandamarieee UCSB! Hbu?
