oh it changed back to normal…
UCSD only looks at your GPA. Even if you’ve published 10 books and have won a noble prize you still won’t get in with a below average GPA. It’s actually pretty sad…
4 hrs and 57 mins left 8-| can’t stop countdown
@HopeInLA Does ucsd calculate our major gpa? I have 1 c grades in a GE course, which is not related my major CS.
If they ignore that outlier, my gpa gets a lot better.
@ssssssssky They look at the overall UC GPA.
@jhern17 I have overall 3.71(fall) 3.76(winter), feel hopeless :((
It seems nobody got in an impacted major with 3.7x gpa in last year thread.
@HopeInLA exactly dude. Ppl have told me the same thing about ucsd in regards to overall gpa. Pretty sad how ucsd only looks at overall gpa…I sort of view them as a wanna be Berkeley or ucla by just admitting high gpa applicants…pretty dumb of a uc institution to do smh lol. Berkeley and ucla are pros at choosing top applicants not by just gpa…that’s why they are ranked so highly, because they truly select the best of the best and that isn’t decided solely by just gpa. Which is why ucsd will not reach Berkeley or ucla’s lvl of prestige until they start selecting true top applicants instead of a boring person with only a 4.0 gpa with nothing else of importance in his personal statement or ECs. Ucsd admissions is a joke if this really is the case as I’ve totally said before.
No offense of course
@Samantha19 UCSD is ranked #14 while UCLA is #12 in the top 500 universities world wide. Here’s a link, http://www.shanghairanking.com/ARWU2014.html
@Samantha19 Your beloved Davis uses the same process though? For both freshmen and transfer applicants…whereas UCSD at least uses the Berkeley/UCLA holistic admissions review process for freshmen. Not sure why you applied to UCSD if you dislike it as much as your previous posts make it seem
@bmirza991 dude…that’s just some Chinese ranking place…it means nothing really. Everybody outside of the US and in other states within the US know about UCLA or Berkeley. But I dare you to tell them about ucsd…they’ll say “UC where?..nope never heard of that place is it any good?..”
I’m just saying…ucsd as much as they wish they were close to ucla or Berkeley…are nowhere near the level of academic excellence, reputation, and prestige of either LA or Berkeley dude. If they truly think that they are kidding themselves. US news 2015 best public universities (a real top college rank site) has ucsd #8 and has Berkeley at #1 and ucla #2…so there you go. Ucsd need to better their admissions and stop being wanna be Berkeley or ucla.
Just saying is all.
My fault wrong post. : )
@Samantha19 I’m sorry i think i missed the post where someone actually asked for your opinion? and for the sake of argument what school doesn’t want to be like Berkeley or UCLA?
@Samantha19 #8…damn… UCSD is a horrible college for being #8 in the nation. Why does anyone want to go there? So bad, much dumb
At least all this pointless arguing is entertainment while we all wait for the decisions :>
@Samantha19 There is no need for you to be speaking out against ucsd on a thread meant for hopeful ucsd transfers. It makes no sense. Some people have different views than you and that’s fine. Yes you are entitled to your opinion but it doesn’t mean you have to force them upon others who don’t think the same way. Ucsd is great for some fields of study, for example marine biology that you cannot find for undergrad at Cal. If you really think ucsd is lacking compared to LA/Cal well then so is Davis, according to your logic. SD is ranked higher than Davis in the nation but that still doesn’t mean Davis “lacks” compared to SD, LA or Cal. Please take your offensive and condescending comments somewhere else, because this just is not the smartest place for them. Maybe make a YouTube video or blog post.
@groverrohan dude at least Davis admits applicants within the 3.2-3.5 range based on their application. Anybody with less than a 3.4 will be luck if they get into mr.wanna be ucla “ucsd” smh. Ucsd selection of admissions only looks at high gpa…Davis doesn’t do that dude. They actually explore your entire transfer application and they take pride in doing so. Why do you think ppl with 3.09s get accepted?..they review it holistically unlike ucsd.
If you guys would just ignore @Samantha19 then this thread would continue just as fine and she would eventually stop looking for attention
@Samantha19 Honestly what do you have against this school?

GO HOME SAMANTHA
@hkn001 She’s against it because her GPA is below the cut off and may not be accepted, or at least that’s what I gather from her posts.
Guys I totally have nothing against ucsd…I just think it’s dumb how they pick applicants based off of high gpa. Honestly I’m not even going to go here even if I get in, I just applied becuz my cousin goes here and I just decided to apply like what the hell basically.
It’s just I feel kind of bad for the applicants that worked very hard, and although they don’t have a 3.4+ will not make it in at this school. It’s totally not fair to them especially if they are a well rounded student and not just a drone with a 3.7+ gpa.
