UC San Diego Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

@PursuitOfKnowledgee UCSD usually sends out all of the decisions at the same time like Davis, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, and UCLA do

@PursuitOfKnowledgee yeah I’m still expecting Friday because I highly doubt they’d release after that but it could be sooner or later!

I’m waiting to hear back from UCSD, UCLA, and USC. The wait is going to drive me insane-- seconds feel like hours over here.

So if UCLA comes out today, UCSD is the only UC left…

got rejected by all UC’s so far… only SD and LA are left… the sad part is I have a 3.94 and I’m not missing any prereqs…

@zekogmo r u from a uni or ccc?

@SmartNPretty Im from ccc

This is my top choice and I’m so anxious waiting for the decision.

Does anyone have an idea of when decisions will be coming out for San Diego?

@kittykittymeow I really think decisions are gonna come out on Friday at around 5 pm. Hopefully, it’ll come out sooner tho

@kittykittymeow @fashionista99 I have been thinking Friday as well. I cannot imagine it going longer than that with every other UC having sent out decisions already (not including UCLA at this moment-- but likely today).

I’m hoping for Friday as well. I’m ready for all of the decisions to be out so that I can finally make a decision on which one I actually want to go to!

Last year UCSD came out after UCLA. I have a feeling it’ll be Friday but nothing to base that on.
What is this talk about UCSB being a better school than UCSD? I didn’t even consider SB but I got in and now I’m curious.

ALSO does anyone know if financial packages come out at the same time as acceptances for UCSD?

@ucdochopeful2k19 I’ve heard that it comes a few days after your acceptance but that was something I read on the UCLA forum. If that’s true, I would expect financial aid packages to come out next week.

UCSB is a very good school and ranks quite well next to the other UC’s. However, it completely depends on your major and your interests. You have to remember that “better” is completely subjective. I would pick USC over UCLA even though they are ranked higher-- USC is better for me.

@NavyGuy2019 thanks for the feedback! I believe I read somewhere that it comes out a few days after as well. I can live with that! Haha.

I am wondering if anyone has feedback on the UCSB Biology department? Obviously this is the SD thread so I will post over there as well.

@ucdochopeful2k19 I remember when I applied last year and went to the UCSB orientation, that the counselors said we weren’t admitted into the major right away. We’d be listed as “pre-biology” first. We either had to pass a few preliminary classes or an exam (can’t recall which one, I think it was the former). And only after we passed, would we be able to enter the Biology department.

That was a major con for me. Once I transferred, I wanted to be situated in my major and actually learning in-depth knowledge. I had already hustled my way through 2 years of bio, chem etc at CC and didn’t want to be taking more pre-req classes than needed.

Other than that, I’ve heard they also have a good program. They’re good for marine biologist majors as well because they’re right on the beach.

The campus is gorgeous.

Wow I had no clue Santa Barbra was like that. It honestly doesn’t make sense to do that to transfer me who have already taken all these classes like those have to count for something right lol.

Anyway I’m so anxious UCSD is my only hope since it is the only one that accepts the bio sequence I did. I would live it if decisions come out today!!

@IBkidonthestreet oh wow! This is super useful information. I totally agree. I’ve worked really hard to intentionally be prepared to transfer directly into my major. It feels weird to have to qualify again, lol. Thank you for that! I will have to ask more about it.

@ucsdacceptme @ucdochopeful2k19 Of course, maybe that won’t be the case this year with Corona and no more SAT/ACT or other factors.

Take my words with a grain of salt and do follow-up research by calling the school, etc. For anyone that was equally interested or invested in the school, it really does have great internship opportunities as well from what I’ve heard. :slight_smile:

Why is this thread so dead compared to others?
