UC San Diego Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

@jaescott I can only speak for myself on this one but I only found this today because it popped up on the UCLA one. I don’t think a lot of people can find this one.

@NavyGuy2019 I see. I think most people are focused on UCLA right now anyways.

@jaescott this happened last year too. It’s because UCSD definitely announces so late.

Well, nothing today. What are the odds UCLA and UCSD come out on the same day?

I honestly expect it to be Monday

got rejected by UCI, UCSB. this is like my last chance…

@Katxlalala why do u say that… decisions for ucla and ucsd usually come out later in the week and specifically Friday’s so I’d be pretty surprised if they came out Monday

Past 2 years its been 26th. 26th is a sunday so I’m speculating itll be 27th. Who knows though

3.75 ccc ucsd cs transfer student here all prereqs done by spring except linear algebra igetc complete what are my chances

got in tag ucsc,
ucr and sjsu

how many people think itll be by friday? wb monday?

it’s odd you’d think the like more like presitigous UC’s like LA and B would release last…

@Katxlalala makes sense but I’d still be surprised if they released decisions on a Monday that’s just unlike them from previous trends.

Maybe theyll just wait until the last day…30th

@c77john A lot of people are getting rejected from schools for missing a single prerequisite. But I don’t know how strict UCSD is, good luck!

i stated in my app and tau as planned for summer.

Is 2 semester worth of a class worth as UC’s 3 quarters worth? Or do you have to take extra quarter class after transfer?

2 semesters equals 3 quarters (1 year); the only way it might be different would be if an extra course was noted on assist.

I just realized I’m missing linear alg for cs major. Will I automatically get rejected or do I still have a chance? My gpa is 3.6

i’m in the same situation. i’m missing a physics class (major requirement) for Computer Engineering but have a 4.0, which is above the GPA range according to https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major.

Will missing a major requirement automatically deny me or just give me less of a chance at being accepted?

@KeepItCool @tyler25419 I’m a bio major that was accepted last year to UCSD. The CS/CE majors are very competitive and hard to get into. Having a lower GPA or missing a major prep class may put you at a disadvantage against other students who are also applying and who have completed their courses. You might be rejected or you could be placed on a waitlist. Or you could be accepted!

I’m only speaking from my experiences with my friends who applied with those majors and GPAs. My friend who applied for CE had a lower GPA (3.6) for the major but she had all of her major prep done. She got waitlisted for UCSD and did not get off the list, and now she’s at UCR. Another friend of mine had a GPA of 3.8 and was missing 2 courses (discrete and differentials) and she was rejected. She’s also elected to go to UCR.

Your cases may not be like those of my friends and I hope you get in. UCSD can be a pain in the butt but I’ve definitely had my fair share of of good times there. Update me when decisions come out!

@IBkidonthestreet thanks for the help. fortunately, i do meet all the requirements for CS but not CE. Hopefully I get into one.

Also, the requirements from ASSIST vs the requirements from https://admissions.ucsd.edu/transfer/transfer-major-preparation.html are different which made it confusing for me.

I should’ve figured this out a long time ago but I found out about the UCSD site after submitting my application. Not sure which I should be trusting.
