Congrats to everyone else who got in!

Hi everyone! I’m not transferring until Fall 2021. For any bio majors who got accepted- did you take engineering physics? I was planning on taking general physics this upcoming year. Will that make it impossible fo me to get into UCSD? Thanks!

@user_369186 I was admitted as a freshman for a non-engineering major and tried to switch to computer science. In the Fall of 2018, UCSD started a lottery system for students to get into computer science (I would guess it’s the same for transfers) because it is SO impacted. Basically, if you have over a 3.3. in the required classes you can enter the lottery… I actually ended up transferring schools because it looked unlikely that I could get into the major. That being said, meet with a CS advisor at UCSD to double check that the process is the same for transfers. Best of luck! Also, congrats on getting in for math-CS!

Does anyone if UCSD will re-send your acceptance packet if they send you the wrong one?

@transferr2020 did you get sent the wrong packet? like freshman instead of transfer or something?

@jordo1215 Hey I got admitted into UCSD and I took the Physics for Bio/science majors, not the engineering version. I would just check Assist.org and compare the agreements between your CC and UCSD If you want to know all the classes that will transfer for your major prep but you should be good.

UCSD accepts both physics series (non-calc heavy and calc-heavy). In this case, your engineering series would be the calc-heavy equivalent of the 2 series at UCSD. It’s up to you.

anyone know if we can take summer classes?

@Katxlalala can I get the link to the FB page as well? Thank you!

I got someone’s packet instead of mine, the envelope has my name and address. But the letter and certificate is someone else’s name, and that person is living relatively close to my place even though I don’t know that person.

I already contacted the admission about this matter, how likely will them send me another copy?

does ucsd send out admission packets to admits? i moved addresses and only just updated mine so was concerned I wouldn’t receive any mail

Hi, i just wanna know did you transfer from another uc campus or from a CCC?

Yes they do

Anybody hesitating to choose UCSD because of the reputation of social life? I wasn’t going to let it bother me but now it definitely is. Their transfer outreach on social media seems to be significantly worse than other UCs. Also, they announced the new 7th college will be housing students in The Village, which is where transfers all used to be housed. Separating all of us would make it ten times harder to meet each other. At such a competitive school I think it’s really important to have homies to stay sane (at least for me).

if you are accepted into a capped major, do you need to declare that major when you start attending UCSD?

@letstryround2 Im kind of hesitant but its due to a few different factors. Based on reviews parking seems to be a nightmare and the administration isn’t particularly helpful. As far as the social aspect…that would probably improve if you join different clubs and organizations. Browse through student reviews, if majority of the complaints are regarding issues that matter to you then I’d take that into consideration.

@SatanFlower69 I am also a little hesitant due to the parking. I have been to UCSD many times and parking is just terrible. It is better to be dropped off, but obviously, if you need to commute and park, like me, the only way to get a spot is to come like 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM. After 10:00 AM, it is significantly harder. So, its definitely something to think about

@letstryround2 People’s perception of social life there differs per person. Joining clubs and organizations definitely ups the social aspect. Being social is all depending on what you make it there. You do have to remember tho UCSD is a very competitive school and there are definitely people there who put more emphasis on their academics and education. For me, having a social life right away is not that important. I would want to settle in a little first and then meet people.
