While UCLA is undeniably a great school, I just dislike the attitude and environment. Their reps never seem to advertise or be inviting and the school and programs are not inviting at all. Granted they don’t have to be because they have plenty of applicants but i get the “we don’t need you” vibe.
@fashionista99 Since I did TAG to UCI I mainly went by the Assist courses for the lower division coursework for UCI’s public health sciences. I’m also following a pre-med track. So I ended up taking 1 year gen chem, 1 year ochem, 1 year calc, 3 semesters biology (for me included 3 courses: general bio, botany, zoology), 1 semester statistics, 1 year econ and 1 semester psychology
Having lived in LA for 3 years, I agree. LA is extremely overrated, ridiculously congested, overly expensive (but everywhere in SoCal is), and its really hot in the summers. SD beats LA 10/10 times for location and you will get a great education no matter where you go. The school doesn’t define you at all.
@blueki Ah okay. Yea I’m in a similar space like you then. I’m also on the premed track and I’ve completed similar courses like you as well, including 1 year of gen chem, 1 year of ochem (1 semester rn), 1 year of gen bio (1 semester rn), 1 year of physics (1 semester rn), 1 year of calc, and 1 semester of psych. Thanks for your input!
I think this thread is dead compared to UCI because most people know UCSD’s decisions will come out on the same day at the same time, so there isn’t much room to guess. As for UCI, their decisions come out in batches. So it could be today, tomorrow, next week.
Yeah this wait is still killing me but I’m thankful it’s not rolling like other places.
Also idk if anyone cares but I just got waitlisted by UCSC? I didn’t think it was possible since they had emailed me about how I should consider changing into a non screening major if I wanted to be accepted since I didn’t meet the requirements (aka my bio class situation). I didn’t change my major cause I’m not interested in the other majors and was expecting a rejection. This is very surprising to me and honestly it just shows how random these college decisions are…
Still really hope to get in ucsd but ik whatever happens will be for the best?
Hi everyone! I applied last year as a transfer and got in as a Microbiology major Good luck to all of you and let me know if you have any questions about the process and/or school.
