which is better/ more prestigous?

ucsd easily

If you’re interested in getting a job in Silicon Valley, you will probably find a lot of opportunities in UC DAVIS.
Otherwise, San Diego.

I just mean as far as like, the school with the better engineering rep. I’m looking for a job starting in San Francisco probably

Also from which school would I get a higher paying job

Bump bump bump

they’re around the same, with UCSD slightly higher in terms of reputation. but UCD can get you internships in silicon valley, and make it more easier for you to get a job in SFO than from UCSD

Either school is fine – especially for undergrad. I think your decision should come down to which environment you like better. If you’re really into wireless communications, however, UCSD is the more logical choice (Qualcomm’s headquarters is nearby and has ties to the university). Otherwise, choose the school that feels right for you. THe school that you’re happier in is the school you will be more successful in.

Can I still get internships from Silicon Valley from Ucsd???
Bump bump bump

Will be pretty hard…

will not be hard at all, UCSD is one of the best research universities in the world.

BUMP BUMP BUMP any more opinions on the comparison ?

Not significantly different to matter.

I heard Ucsd is ranked higher which must mean something tho…

You know…you only need one school to go to. Have you applied to any of these schools which you have posted in this forum? have you been accepted to all of them?..

How about the money?..do you have any problems?..you may be accepted at good ranking first class but with no financial aid at all…then what?..

These are the things that you should give some thought also…good luck.

Also, maybe… just a WILD idea here…

How do YOU personally like the schools you’re interested in? It’s clear that you’re preoccupied with rankings, this and that, and which school has the highest prestige, but you don’t seem to be all that concerned about personal fit. As you may or may not know, college is not just about academics… it’s about the experience. This is something that sticks with you for life, and a bad experience can have a very big impact on your career motivation, and overall happiness.

Having said that, UCSD and UCD are very different schools outside of academics. UCD generally has a more liberal-minded student body, and is set in a farmland community basically with a more relaxed pace. UCSD on the other hand is set in a slightly more conservative, upscale, and active area near the ocean. You’re going to have different distractions at either campus.

Personally, I think both campuses are great and both offer great academics. I really think you should start focusing on cost and personal fit.

The rankings are all I have I’m just treacly worried about my future and getting a good job and I want to go to the best college I can that will prepare me for the job. I definately didn’t like UC Davis’s campus. It was kindof boring. Havent visited San Diego but the pictures look cool

so, have you applied or have you been accepted by any of those schools?..or you are just playing the IF games?..what if…

Just wait until you are accepted then worry about which school.

I’m almost positive I’m going to get in to both. At least that’s what people on CC, people from UCSD, my friends, my councilors, my teachers, etc have been saying so I’m going a little ahead. The reason I’m making a decision now is that
Ucsd’s room and board choices are first come first serve
I want to know where I Want to go now so when the decisions come out I can turn in my forms ASAP.
