I constantly hear about UCLA and Berkely but there’s not much mention of UCSD. I was wondering how the university compares to the other UC’s and also to UMich UVA and UNC (the other 3 state unis Im thinking of applying to). I’m planning on going into premed but majoring in something like journalism. Any info would be much appreciated.

UCSD is ranked slightly after UCLA/Berkeley. In some areas, UCSD is beginning to rank better than UCLA, particularly in pharmacy and several science areas like marine biology. It really is a great school. Cal leads the UC schools in nearly everything especially in business (Haas) and engineering. UCLA has a great humanities program - the music program is very good; I know a lot of people who pre-med at UCLA. UCSD differs from the other UCs in that you have to apply for a college within the school - there are 6 of them and they’re known for different areas.

I don’t know much about the other state universities. sorry!

Generally, UCSD is recognized as having superior pre-med and bioengineering programs compared to Cal and UCLA.

Go to the forum for UCSD, you’ll find all kinds of information.

Can you link me to the forums please?

Huh…go to Top Forums, Colleges, and there is an alphabetical pull down…
