This means you didn’t meet the cutoff for CS (which is by far the most competitive major at UCSB since it’s only around 100 people a year) but had good enough of an application to get into L&S. You can still switch to CS if you’d like.

What are the chances of getting off the waitlist at UCSB for Statistics and Data Science?
See this link for Waitlist information and no one can tell you your chances. It will depend upon how many admitted students enroll by the SIR date of May 15 and how many spots are open after that which can vary from year to year.
In general, consider the waitlist as a soft reject and move on to the schools that have admitted you.
