UC Santa Barbara Class of 2029 Official Thread

In 2020 they had a reception in Costa Mesa. CANCELLED: Costa Mesa Chancellor's Reception - Alumni Registration - UC Santa Barbara

They don’t have as many receptions as they used to.

Yup - don’t remind me. haha. Terrible time.

Do Sacramento area applicants get invited to Bay Area reception?

Do OC applicants get invited to the LA reception?

S25 received the Chancellor’s invite through mail today. In-state (Bay Area)

Mine did in 2020.

Thanks for the info!

Any updates in your portal?

Your student portal will not be updated until decisions are posted in March even if you received the Chancellor Reception invite and they confirm you are admitted.

My daughter received her invitation by US Mail today for the LA or San Jose reception. We are in LA. Nothing received via email or in the portal.

Congrats, would you mind sharing your daughter’s application stats, that would be a good indicator of what the acceptance numbers may look like for 2025.
Thanks

Sure. Her stats in the UC application (so not including senior year grades):

Unweighted UC GPA: 4.0
UC Weighted (capped): 4.36
UC Weighted: 4.64

She had taken six AP’s by that time (Calculus AB, Mandarin, World History, Human Geography, US History, Lang), and is taking four AP’s in senior year (Lit, Gov, Stats, and African American History).

She is very interested in writing, and her extracurriculars reflected that. Will likely major in writing (application to College of Creative Studies pending). Hope that helps.

does the Chancellor Reception invite indicate the student is accepted to first-choice major?

That question is one I cannot answer with 100% certainty but I would believe that being a top UCSB applicant, that the student would be admitted into their first choice major.

anyone from orange county receive one this year?

Do you know whether the College of Creative Studies decisions are released at the reception (as this is the first choice major), or does that come later? Thanks!

Generally it comes when regular decisions are released.
