UC Santa Barbara Class of 2029 Official Thread

I would fall under that umbrella. Not a single UCB early student from our school got UCSB as well. In contrast, a student we consider to be relatively lower in standing (by GPA, class rigor, ECs, etc.) got it. Less got UCSB, more got UCB. Very surprising.

and the only one that we know in HS with Berkeley Regents is a good student but cant say has the best stats, this process is very subjective

Did you get the email confirmation after RSVP ing?

wow, that stinks..

hopefull there is NO correlation rather than a negative correlation!

Yep. And then it was cancelled less than a day later.

How can they randomly send out emails? So weird

So weird.

My parents are telling me I shouldn’t care because I already got Berkeley’s Regents interview opportunity, but it is still sad to see.

Yes, your parents are very true. Don’t worry. Congrats on Berkeley’s Regents interview opportunity. Hope you will get it. All the best!

Has anyone gotten the Chancellor’s Reception in email form in OC yet?

Yes, we just did. We got it in the mail today and also online just an hour ago. We’re from OC

Alright thanks for letting me know, wont get my hopes up for an invite then :slightly_smiling_face:

Had bad experience with the University Housing. Avoid this UC campus if your child has a better choice.

Can you share more details about your bad experience? Must be pretty extreme for you to suggest that the school should be completely avoided.

I can assume that if you live near a reception but weren’t invited you won’t receive a scholarship?

Sounds like the NYC Chancellor’s Reception was today, was anyone there?

Update: I was in contact with someone who was there and she said the Chancellor told them they were admitted (just like they have historically!) so congrats to anyone who got this honor!!

Did anyone receive Regents as well or just the Chancellor’s invitation?

Regents should come in a separate mailing. In the past, it was a large envelope with a folder and certificate inside.
