Yes, my son feels the same. He was confident by all measures that UCSB was going to be a confident acceptance and when waitlisted - he was shocked/saddened. UCLA was his number one REACH but UCSB was his number one choice. After the shock wore off - he decided he would attend UCD and has totally shifted to that option as he wanted some control in this process. Now that he was taken off the SB waitlist - he said he will likely decline and stick with Davis. Had he initially been accepted to UCSB - it would have been an absolute yes but now…decisions have changed.

If it’s of any help, my niece is at Davis and is super happy. Most of our kids will be happy wherever they land. I keep reminding myself that during this purgatory wait!!!

i called UCSB Admission today and they told me there were 2 wait list admittances Mon and Wed this week, but unlikely one today. They said there will be more next week.

My son just got admitted to CS. We had already committed to UCR, but he wasn’t happy. We are beyond happy—best luck to everybody.

Was really hoping my son would get off the WL but it’s looking like it’s not in the cards. Glad he’s excited about Cal Poly SLO but was really, really hoping he’d have an option to be a Gaucho.

Does anyone know if the tell waitlisted students when admission is closed, so the can move on and focus on a different college? And historically, when do they tend to be done admitting off the waitlist? I know it can go late, but it would be helpful to know when it’s mostly over.

Historically they will send denials before closing the waitlist.
Not sure if this means anything and it’s prob neither here nor there, but thought I’d share. Looks like the UCSB applicant portal is down for a little bit. This goofy mom looks from time to time just check to see if DS missed something. Pipe dream!
