Which of these universities would you choose and why?
Depends on your major of course and where you live perhaps…
But instinctually, I would pick UC Berkeley. Despite the fact I live 15 min away from it and have taken classes there, it might seem to be “too close too home” which is true, but UC Berkleley will definitely give you a leg up when finding a job. It really is hard to judge becuase I am not sure what you want to study. Berkeley is well rounded with its academics (renown engineering, sciences, research) but keep in mind the student at berkeley is very competitive, sometimes will make you feel intellectually inferior (of course you aren’t tho, matter of confidence). It is nice to be in an environment where you feel encouraged to learn.
I am not saying you would not excel at SB either. It is a great school and beautiful location. Although a bit lacking in student diversity… ultimately the decision is up to you! GL
More diversity at Cal than at UCSB? There are 25 % Asians and 25 % Latinos at UCSB with 41 % White. What is the diversity at Cal? Almost double the number of Asians and far fewer Latinos, Blacks, and NA is hardly making for a higher diversity.
