UC Santa Cruz Class of 2028 Official Thread

Thank you. Did anyone receive the scholarship? I’m OOS and got admitted two days ago.

When is the next round coming out?

Scholarship notifications went out after the March 15 decision date last year, so it may be the same for this year’s class.

We didn’t get any email, waitlisted from UC riverside.Very nervous about the results. We thought as a California candidate, we will get one UC but if we didn’t get in UC riverside which was safety so have lost all our hope. If we get rejected from all the UCs, what do we do? How does this Guaranteed UC work?

Are you a top 9% then? If so, and you are rejected from all the UCs you applied to, you will be offered a spot at Merced or possibly Riverside (last year there were a few who got Riverside, but most tend to get Merced).

If you have no other safeties, I would look into whether there are CSUs that are still accepting applications (there might be).

There are some CSUs that are still accepting applications. You can find the list here: Application Dates & Deadlines | CSU

A very high percent of kids get in from the Riverside waitlist from what I understand. Also, don’t forget the amazing option to go to community college for a year and transfer to private college or for two years and transfer to a UC. Our neightbor who had a 3.4 GPA in HS went this route, did well in CC and transfered to Berkeley. There are so many roads to sucess. Don’t get discouraged if this one doesnt work out the way you hoped.

Yes, there is also the TAG program which guarantees transfer from CC to some UC campuses (not all campuses participate in this, but UC Santa Cruz does).

My DS22 was waitlisted at Davis but got into Cal which was unexpected. Don’t loose hope!!

Be aware that Regents scholars may no longer receive housing priority as UCSC is shifting to a lottery for continuing students in 2024-25 (freshmen all get on campus housing offers if they meet the application deadlines).

Thank you for the update.

@Gumbymom if they didn’t get accepted yet then do they have to wait until March 15 to hear?

Yes, but UCSC has not confirmed the date for the next batch of decisions but it should be around that time.

Daughter admitted on 2/29 for English major.
UC Weighted GPA: 4.11
No APs offered at her school. She took 10 honors classes from 10th-12 grades. Dropped honors math in 12th grade after a brutal junior year in Precalc H.
ECs: Journalism, art, some environmentalism clubs.
Work: Yes: retail job, summer camp counselor.
Volunteer: Tutoring
Other: She transferred high schools in 11th grade. Wrote heartfelt essays with creative flair customized to PIQs (not borrowed from other essays).

How did you inform UCSC about the dropped math honor?

She dropped the honors track after 11th grade- so it wasn’t mid-year. Her transcript shows honors math in 9th-11th grades and then non-honors/regular calculus in 12th.

Here is a schedule change/grade form to fill out: CruzID Gold Login - Stale Request

Notifications must be made through the Schedule Change/Grade Issues Form (for best results, please use a laptop/desktop to submit the form, not a mobile device).

If one changes 12th grade class schedules and/or gets a D or F in a 12th grade class after submitting the UC application, there is a link in the application portal to a form to report this.
