I am going in as a Humanities Major

Some UC schools may send marketing emails while others do not because of differences in individual campus recruitment strategies, enrollment goals, and budget allocations; meaning each campus might prioritize different outreach methods depending on their specific needs to attract students, which could include relying more heavily on email marketing in some cases than others.

Based on 2024 Freshman applicant numbers only 5% of the applicants for UCSC were Humanities majors while 48% were STEM majors. They are probably specifically targeting your major discipline on purpose.

Thank you for your insight! I understand that different UC campuses have varying recruitment strategies, but my question was specifically about a physical mailed postcard rather than an email. The postcard had strong wording like Join us this fall and As a UCSC Humanities student along with my name and address printed on it.

I was wondering if this type of mail has been sent to students who were ultimately rejected or if it typically goes to those who are admitted. Since it came from the Humanities department and not general admissions, it felt more personal than standard promotional material. Any insights on this would be appreciated!

Interesting. S25 also applied humanities at UCSC and has not received a post card that I’m aware of - although we get a lot of junk mail and someone may have tossed it if it was slipped into the dumb newspaper ads we get every week, so…

You’ll know soon enough!

Need help paying for college? Apply for scholarship email. You guys all received this email right?

S25 Admitted to CS. UC GPA (UNW:3.91 WC:4.14). Conditional acceptance based on S25 being able to convince his mom about driving on HW 17.

My son applied for same but nothing in portal :frowning:

They are probably updating the portal to send the email after school hours.

Do we think all the updates were made at once, and if your app is still pending you won’t hear until mid March with the main wave?

I think like all the other CA schools they send decisions out in waves

@Gumbymom is the best person to answer that.

From past year’s experience, the portal usually updates before the emails are sent.

Congratulations to all admitted applicants. Please be aware that only a small group of students are admitted early and the majority of applicants will get their decision Mid-March which was on March 15 last year..
