D25 was accepted for Biology. Portal was updated but no email. We are local to the Monterey Bay and UCSC may be a little too close to home. But we love the UCSC campus. Very excited!

Hi parents & students – Current parent of two UC college students here (UCLA and UCSD). I haven’t logged into CC in probably almost a year now, but I randomly dropped in to see this today. Just wanted to weigh in for those of you who may be anxious seeing some students get accepted to UCSC today but no update for your own applicant. This forum is not super representative, so I can say from experience having gone through it twice that the great majority of the acceptances to UCSC are coming later! Sometime in March. So please try to relax if you didn’t hear today!

Just after reading about some decisions, my son received an email about his admission to UCSC, into his “proposed” major of Technology and Information Management. His twin is still waiting for a decision.

is there still any hope for more decisions today

If we average out the latest CS rankings from Niche and US News, the order is:

  1. UCD (Niche=46, USNews=29)
  2. UCSB (Niche=98, USNews=34)
  3. UCSC (Niche=134, USNews=53)

This first wave really came out very early this year! When compared to last year, the first wave was supposed to be next Thursday, 2/27. Maybe they’ll do a wave 2 next week, and then a wave 3 on March 13…

do you think its possible that decisions will come out every day from now until march 20th?

My friend’s daughter got accepted, just now.

Here is how UCSC has handled their Freshman decisions for the last 3 years so highly unlikely they will do rolling admissions through March.

2024: Early admits February 29, 2024 around 12 pm PST. Regular Decisions on Friday March 15, 2024 around 12 noon. Also early admits were notified of Regents and Dean’s scholarships on March 15, 2024.

2023: 1st Wave Monday February 27. 2nd Wave March 15, 2023. Scholarship notifications on March 16, 2023

2022: 1st Wave starting Friday February 25th. 2nd Wave March 15th

Are only early admits eligible for regents?

No, but normally the early admits are top students which would be the most likely to receive the scholarship. If an early admit is awarded the scholarship and they do not end up attending, the scholarship can be given to another admitted student.

Any idea when do they give scholarships?

Last year, scholarships such as Regents were awarded on the March decision date.
