My kid received her acceptance a couple of weeks ago, and notice of the Dean’s Award last week. We are OOS and she’s a Biology major. My question is: approximately how much should we expect to pay in rent, in the event that she does not get campus housing?
She’ll get campus housing for freshman year (generally in a triple), which is about $5700 per quarter including food. After that there’s about a 40%-50% chance of an on-campus apartment each year which ranges from $4200 (triple) to $5800 (single) per quarter excluding food. Only those currently on campus get a priority spot in the lottery, so once you are off that’s it for the remaining years. Off campus you’ll likely have to pay for the full 12 months at $1400-$1900 per month plus utilities, depending on how crowded and how far, though some pay as little as $1200-$1300.
Thank you!
UCSC sent an email saying admission status will be released no later than March 20th. And also release times by last names on decision day.
A - C beginning at 12:00 p.m. (noon)
D - G beginning at 1:00 p.m.
H - K beginning at 2:00 p.m.
L - N beginning at 3:00 p.m.
O - S beginning at 4:00 p.m.
T - Z beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Not sure if “no later” could mean earlier than March 20.
Last year UCSC sent a similar email and decisions were posted earlier than the date listed.
The email subject line just about gave me a heart attack!
What day were they posed last year?
Decisions were posted on Friday March 15 for 2024 Freshman admits.
@Gumbymom does UCSC have an admitted student reception as well?
Ignore the question. The events are on the ucsc website.
I’ve tried to compile most Admitted Student Days here.
Thanks. I meant admitted student reception which is off campus. Either way my question is answered.

The email about the March decisions was posted around March 7 last year.
