Congrats! Have you toured it? It’s the most jaw dropping, beautiful campuses I’ve ever seen. So many regrets I didn’t study harder in high school.
I actually went there! In the 90’s. We did tour and my son loved it. He said it was like the Ewok village.
Yes! We all commented it was Endor. It doesn’t have my daughter’s exact major but may choose to accept the offer depending on other results since she plans on graduate school anyway. It didn’t hurt that we had the best tour guide (triple major who belonged to the cereal club etc.) and the weather was a perfect sunny day, we finished down at the boardwalk riding rides etc. UCSC came to play that day, haha!
Yes, same! Santa Cruz physics leans more astro so we are waiting for SD and SB before deciding. But totally happy to attend SC too!

I’m so sorry not to reply earlier! I don’t have to come to this site very often anymore since we are now a couple of years out from college applications. I’ll be back in about 4 years with my last kid who is now in 7th grade.
So to answer your question, both my daughter (HS class of '21) and my daughter (HS class of '23) were in the lucky group of early round admits to UCSC, and they ultimately both did well with UC admissions overall (though my son was waitlisted and never admitted to UC Berkeley, he was admitted to all the other UCs he applied to and ultimately picked UCLA; my daughter was rejected from UCLA but eventually admitted to all other UCs, though the UC Berkeley and UCSB admittances came off the waitlist – she’s at UCSD (at the end of the day, UC Berkeley is just too close to home for her to have picked it). My broader point is that most of their friends including those who later got into more selective UCs didn’t hear back from UCSC in that first round. The VAST majority of admits came later (including a lot from the waitlist in '21 – not quite as many in '23 if I recall right).
Just got in!!! With a 3.4uw gpa?! So relieved and happy to have an in state option
Amazing!!! Congratulations. Your essays must be very compelling What major were you accepted into?
Thank you so much!! I got in as a sociology major. And I looked through your posts a little- I hope your daughter and her friends all get into their top choices!!
Thank you!! She applied to UCSC for Art History. I don’t think she has checked yet, I’ll let her know results came out when I see her this evening (if she hasnt already heard). Fingers crossed for her. And wishing you the very best on the rest of your results. Wonderful for you to have UCSC as an option!!
