Hi do you have any idea when usually UC starts giving out waitlist decisions ? After May 15 or earlier?
I had few friends receiving in July end
Here was the timeline last year. In general, they will start admitting after May 15 depending on the enrollment numbers but it was earlier last year. With the FAFSA delay ad not having the FA packages ready, it may be later.
2023 Waitlist timeline: Small number of admits on Monday April 24, 2023. Rare admit May 3. More admits on Friday May 5. Few admits May 18 and June 6. Few admits around June 18 including CS. Admits on June 30 but for Winter quarter (appears to be a new option for Freshman admits).
Does anyone know if UCSC is taking letters of continued interest or anything like that?
No, none of the UCās will accept LOCIās, LORās or other documentation from waitlisted students. UCLA is the exception with their waitlist statement and updated grades only.
UCās do not consider an applicants level of interest in admission decisions.
S24 is wait listed at UCSC. Any guess at a date for wait listed applicants to be notified?
Thanks.
Most likely waitlisted students will not hear until after the SIR deadline of May 15. If spots open up before the deadline, then students can hear earlier.
Thanks. He has to tell Indiana University by May 15th.
All waitlisted students have to enroll somewhere by the SIR deadline. The worst that would happen is that UCSC would admit him off the waitlist and would he would lose the enrollment deposit if he wants to attend UCSC.
My child was placed on the waitlist at UCSC, and we opted in to the waitlist (received notification to this effect). However, just today (April 16) we received a rejection? This seems very early to me - has anyone else experienced this? I am concerned that something went wrong with our waitlist opt-in⦠THANKS!
I agree it seems very early for any denials since the May 15th SIR deadline has not passed. I would contact admissions and make sure there is no issues/computer glitches. There was a computer issue with UCSD/UCI/UCR and UCD where waitlisted students were admitted and then found out it was a mistake.
I agree, itās abnormally early and you should definitely contact admissions, but last year UCSC released decisions on April 20th (before the SIR deadline). They might be trying to get through waitlists early to deal with the volume. I honestly doubt that idea, but I wouldnāt be too surprised if UCSC stands by their decision
Same. My son was on the waitlist and was denied admission yesterday.
Good news! I contacted the UCSC Admissions Office and received the below email, and as of this morning my child is back on the waitlist.
Hi XXX,
We sincerely apologize for the confusion and any anxiety this may have caused. Weāve updated XXXās status back to being on the waitlist.

Interesting⦠ok, Iāll email them.
Thank you for posting the information.
Appreciate your update. You are correct. Apparently they had a glitch in the system. My son is back on the waitlist.
Given that there was a batch of waitlist decisions last year around this time (Monday 24th) do you think that thereās going to be one today? I know you donāt have any official say, but opinion would be nice!
My guess is that any decisions will be a couple of weeks later this year, given the fact that the SIR date is May 15 this year rather than May 1 as in the past. But thatās just my guess!
But when? Starting of may or like after the date? Ofc the majority will be after but is there hope for before?
given that last yearās first release date was exactly a week before the SIR deadline, may 8th could be a good estimate.
