UC schools

I am currently going into my senior year of high school and was thinking of applying to some of the uc’s and wanted a second opinion on my chances. I was thinking of applying to riverside, Irvine, Merced, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, and Davis. Bare with me because it’s kind of long.

Gpa: about 3.7 unweighted; uc goa weighted about 3.9, uncapped 4.3( I don’t know if all uc do uncapped)

Sat: 1640 ( I know it’s pretty bad :frowning: but I’m gonna retake it and gonna take lessons with elite)
Also planning on trying the ACT

Classes for 10 and 11th grade: 8 honor classes, 3 ap( world, U.S., and bio)

Senior class load: h lit, ap calc ab, h physio/anatomy, ap Econ, jazz band, also taking class at community college (California geography)

Taken Chinese school 6 years in mandarin
Over 130 hours of volunteer work
Volunteered at hospital 2 years
Volunteered for local tutoring at elementary school 4 years
Play saxophone (6 years)and flute(3 years)
Lead tenor sax in jazz band 4 years
LAUSD ALL CITY JAZZ BAND 2 years
Scholarship winner of district musician award for sax
6 honorable mentions from previous scholarships
Awarded solo award at two different jazz festivals
2 years model united nation member
School jazz combo leader
top 10% in school of about 956
ELC member

Race: Asian( Burmese/ Singaporean)

Low income family
1st generation college student

Twice nominated for national academy of future physicians and medical science award of excellence- there was a conference but couldn’t go because couldn’t afford it…

What do you think my chances are?

If you get your score up, you might have a good chance at those UC’s since they’re lower tier UC’s. Unless you apply for impacted majors, then it will be difficult.

Do you mean like sat and act?

UCM/UCR/UCSC are your target schools based on your current stats. Bump up your SAT into the 1900+ range and UCI is possible along with UCD/UCSB with great essays. Good luck

I agree - your current stats qualify you best for UCM, UCR and UCSC. A couple hundred more SAT points would open the door to others.

I’d also encourage you to apply to SDSU and perhaps CSULB.
