I don’t see why people think a UC to UC transfer is unreliable. The chances are lower than CC to UC, but it’s not that much lower. For Cal and LA the chances are about halved, but for SD it’s still a 40% chance. It just means you got to work a little harder, but any average student can still UC to UC transfer to SD, right? Or am I missing something?

Yes you are. Dont forget that UC’s coursework is much harder than CC coursework. So that will add some more weight in a nonsucessful transfer if you do bad.

I’m just looking at the official statistics… 42.5% chance for SD, yet people act like it’s less than 10%. I know UCs don’t represent the entire “Four-year college/other” category but the chances should still be in that ballpark. I thought UCs get priority after CCs and state colleges anyways.

But really, is it accurate substituting “UCs” into “Four-year college/other” to look at UC to UC chances?

uc transfers give priority to CC students. Also, keep in mind that its much easier to transfer from say, Cal to SD or Davis than from Davis to Cal.

Do they recognize UC GPA versus CC GPA? Or is the whole advantage of CC -> UC is they’re treated the same and CC helps you inflate your GPA with less effort?

I guess they would consider the difficulty of getting a high GPA in a UC as opposed to a CC, but the bottom line is that all CCs get priority transfer. It would help a little, but don’t expect it to be anything more than like a .1 or .2 difference in GPA.
