UC to UC transferable courses

At UCSD, the university is broken up into 6 different colleges to which each has a set of required breadth requirements. Thurgood Marshall has a 3-quarter series course labeled Dimensions of Culture (DOC) that those of the other colleges do not have to take. When applying to transfer to UCB, I do not think there is any UCB course equivalent to this course at UCSD. As such, will the grades acquired from these DOC courses be calculated into my GPA if they cannot directly transfer to UCB?

Two other questions:

 • When UCB is calculating your GPA to base your admission potential on, do they calculate it from every course you’ve ever taken, or do they use the ones that specifically reflect your breadth and major requirements?
 • If you took a course at UCSD and received a poor grade, and then decided to take it at a CC, which do they take? Does the more recent, regardless where it was taken, overshadow the original?

In general, the UC counts all your transferable courses to caluculate your UC-gpa and some UC also have minimum GPA for your major coursework. and if you failed a class at ucsd but took it at a community college then it depend on the institution, once you passed it from CC did you meet with a counselor at UCSD to see if that credits replace the old one? or does it average both of the grades? these you will have to ask a counselor…some institutions let you replace the grade in place of the old ones, some just averages them out
