UC Transfer in 1 Year?

Hello,
I just recently graduated high school and was curious about how possible it would be for me to transfer to Berkeley in a one year span. I mapped out my community college courses and I’d have the 60 units to transfer by the end of Spring 2012, have the IGETC complete, though I’d be missing two chemistry courses from the assist.com planner for my major. Would I still be considered a junior-level applicant? Would my high school grades follow me in the admission process? What extracurriculars are UCs looking for transfer students that would increase any admission chances? Should I wait the extra year if I’d have essentially 90% of my classes done with in my first year?..

As long as you complete the requirements, you will be eligible for transfer. There is no time requirement (you are not obligated to attend community college for a certain number of years). But you should try to squeeze in your major prerequisites; those are typically more important than general education requirements (depending on the major).

High school records are not considered for transfer admission, though you may list extracurricular activities from high school on your UC application. You may be required to submit your HS transcript (July 15) to prove high school graduation.

Transfer admission is mostly focused on your grades and completion of your major prereqs and general education requirements. For your extracurriculars, you should focus on activities related to your major.

If you decide to stay for two years, spread out your courses so you can spend more time on each course to attain the best grade possible.
