UC

I know this question has been answered before on cc, but I’m looking for a more specific answer.

What is the distinct personality and vibe at each UC ( please don’t answer by bagging each school with clever acronyms)

I want to know which vibe I would enjoy most if i’m the following:

I’m extroverted but I need introductions to make friends (joining clubs, introduced by other friends, etc)
I enjoy a little party every now and then
I love fashion and shopping at quirky mom and pop stores ( so a college town kind of thing)

I don’t know much about other UCs, but UC Berkeley seems to fit what you want. There’s a casual, laidback vibe and downtown Berkeley has a lot of quirky and unique shops.
A lot of school spirit and club activity going on too. The introductions thing is something that’s more up to you more than anything, but stay involved and you’re bound to make friends.

I’m sure there are some guidebooks that describe the students and surrounding area and general culture of the colleges. There is also a State ==>Califormia forum where there is a lot of UC discussion.

Thanks! I’ll look into UCB

What’s your major? That will have an effect on your immediate culture. Stem majors at UCB have a far less relaxed atmosphere.

Although many will scoff at my suggestion, I would say if you want the quintessential college town, UC Davis would be the place. Boutique style small clothes stores abound in downtown, plenty of restaurants, small coffee houses and pubs. Very friendly people on and off campus and plenty of parties happening all over campus especially along Frat Row. You have Sacramento 20 minutes away using the Yolo Bus ($1 for UC Davis students) and they also have a daily shuttle from campus to Berkeley.
Your best bet would be to visit as many campuses possible to feel the “vibe” yourself. I agree with @ninjex regarding your intended major along with your STATS. UCB has the lowest acceptance rate for all the UC’s so even though you make like the campus, you need to make sure you have a good chance of getting admitted.

I agree that Davis is a true college town experience.
Sir Bentley, are you a state resident? It’ll cost ya if you’re not.

I’m a state resident  I’ll look into davis as well

They are all cool in their own way. I say visit them all but, It’s all conjecture without your stats… These schools are really selective.

I’d recommend visiting to get a better feel for the schools and to see first-hand what the surrounding area is like.
