Dear Alumni Scholarship Applicant,</p>

<p>It is my distinct pleasure to congratulate you twice today. First, on your admission to UC Berkeley, which I do not need to tell you is quite a feat. Second, congratulations on being selected as a Semifinalist for The Alumni Scholarship.</p>

<p>As a Semifinalist, you have moved on to the next round of competition for an award. Your application will now be given closer scrutiny by a team of staff and alumni volunteers here in Berkeley that will advance some students to the Final round and invite them for a face-to-face interview. Although interviews will not take place until the fall, Finalists will be notified by June 1, 2005. There is no need to contact our office to check on your application status until then.</p>

<p>No, I just got a Cal Bears Scholarship for 14,000 on the Financial Aid Notification…however, I’m not going to take it, which is a shame…</p>
