One of my essays for UC’s is about how, at heart, I am a ‘rebel’ in that I am not afraid to question the status quo. I tie this into my natural curiosity and desire to expand humanity’s body of knowledge, explaining my love for science. I was wondering if, given the recent events at Berkeley (Berkeley riots, etc.), ‘rebel’ would be the best term to use, or if this might carry some negative connotations for the admissions committee.
