From the Orientation, I learned that I can check what books I need to purchase and choose to purchase them via the UCD Online Bookstore

[UC Davis Bookstore](http://www.ucdavisbookstore.com)

My question is, what does “Choose REQ Text or E” mean? It’s under some books, whereas the other ones would say REQUIRED, BOOKSTORE RECOMMENDS, or OPTIONAL.

A little help please, and thank you!

well, i think that the “e” stands for “electronic” book, so the online version of the book.as for req text…i dunno. sry.

Hmm…I can’t find it on Google either. I’ll give the bookstore a call and let everyone know what results I get.

so how do we know if we really need the ‘optional’ textbooks?

You probably don’t, but for certain classes, it might help I suppose x_X Going to call soon, maybe in a few hours to ask about the REQ text or E thing

I checked the textbooks I need and one of them (Chem 2A) has no ISBN number. The is a lot of missing information. I do not know how to track down the book anywhere. Will they update it soon? Or am I just seeing things?

It should be updated soon. If not, your best bet would be to actually visit the bookstore during welcome week before instruction begins. They know it’s a new quarter with new students, so there will be a lot of staff members there if you have questions. I believe it wouldn’t be too difficult to locate the book. CHE 2A is a very popular class freshmen take and I don’t doubt that there will be a whole section of the bookstore dedicated to CHE 2A books/manuals. I wouldn’t stress too much about it, your chem professor will tell you more about required texts during the first day of class.
