UCF Accepted Fall/Summer 2016

@mrslac1 I am surprised to hear that your son wasn’t accepted to UCF, his stats were better than my DD. My husband thinks decisions at this point may come down to the essay and the specific major. My daughter will not be going to UCF so hopefully her spot will go to someone that has been Deferred.

@tms091797 absolutely not.

@jupiter98 I agree, my friend suggested it to me but I didn’t think it was a smart thing to do.
Thanks!

I would suggest that you call the admissions office if you were deferred. My daughter was on Friday and I called on Monday. Without even looking at her application the person on the phone gave me a blanket answer that she should submit her first semester grades and retake the ACT. I explained that her grades and ACT were very good and then the person pulled up her file. She then again said to send in her grades for the first semester which is not over for us for two more weeks.

Then today, her application changed to admitted (magically!) My theory is either that they want to see who calls after being deferred OR that the person who answered the phone actually looked at the file and realized that the application should have been accepted. It is worth a shot! Good Luck :wink:

If your student exceeds the UCF norm above and is deferred, it’s probably due to paperwork. They need to “see” first semester grades for the typical 12th grader. Why? Because those grades prove that the student is actually enrolled in the required/claimed courses (AP Lit, Calculus, Physics, etc). Public school districts might have a delay from the semester’s end to the time when grades are “certified”. Make sure you send transcripts to UCF after semester 1 grades are district certified. Then wait until March.

Yesterday UCF offered the opportunity to do summer sessions instead of fall.
I’m guessing I got denied from fall 2016 term since they said if I don’t accept the summer term I will be denied admission?:confused:

Don t worry…many student will go to UF

I was first deferred then accepted three days later. My stats are on the lower end of the spectrum, but I am guessing that it was my grade trend and essay that really helped my application out.

How did you find out? By checking your Application Status or by Email?

@steelerfan97 I found out by checking my application status as they email you but a few hours later. The email only tells you that your application status has been updated, not whether you were accepted or not.
