I got deferred from UCF on January 8th, and I still haven’t heard anything back
Has anyone who has gotten deferred who applied for Fall gotten accepted yet? Or at least heard back?
My son was deferred in January. Following the advice on this board he called admissions and asked why, and they told him his grades were somewhat lower than they look for. He told them UCF was his first choice and asked what he could do to improve his chances, and they said to send his updated grades. He didn’t do this as they are actually slightly lower right now (3.7 weighted). Then, maybe a week later, someone called from UCF to ask if he had any questions about campus life, etc. They left a message and he called back and asked some intelligent sounding questions. The next day he was admitted. So, as mentioned before, it’s good to interact and show them that you’re truly interested.
Agree with the above. Calling sometimes maybe challenging, but emails of all admission staff are on their website - take a moment and send a mindful email voicing your interest in UCF.
On a different note, did anyone apply to Burnett’s honors college?
Can i ask what your stats were?
Applied for Fall
Weighted GPA: 3.7
UW: 2.9
ACT:30
Service Hours: 383 hours
Decent amount of extra curriculars
I sent them an email showing my interest in the school and letting them know that UCF is my #1 choice, and I sent a letter of recommendation so I’m really hoping to hear back from them soon!
But thank you for that advice! @Lurdes777 @Almostthere99
@tms091797 I have around the same stats and I’ve sent them several emails as well but I never heard anything back
Where did you guys email?
which email address?
I emailed any one of those counselors at the bottom of the page
@tms091797 not sure what you mean by any one.
Like I’ve personally have emailed a couple of them, but any counselor would work
I think that if you’ve emailed and got no response it might be worth calling. It takes more effort and guts to actually speak with someone, so it probably makes more of an impression at their end. And they keep you on hold a long time, so be prepared to be patient, LOL. Also, assume that anyone you speak to, including the receptionist, could be influential in the decision about your application. Since your stats are similar to my son’s you could be just one good impression away from admission. FWIW he applied and was admitted for fall.
I got deferred early in January and I was accepted for fall on Monday this week. I believe I was supposed to be accepted earlier, but my decision was delayed a bit because they hadn’t receive my immigration papers.
