I know there will be many applicants to UChi that have more impressive stats than this. In my senior year I’m hoping to make my GPA a little higher and also be accepted into German Honor Society.

I’m a nerd. I’m passionate about learning and I’m passionate about this school. I’m a critical thinker, a leader, and ambitious (or just a little crazy).

I’m going to be relentless in the admissions process. I’m willing to transfer in after a good freshman year at a different university.

What’s with the low GPA? Definitely bring up your math SAT, make sure to get some stellar recs, and, for the love of God, write awesome essays. If you’re really as passionate about this school as you claim to be, you’ll be just fine.

“I’m going to be relentless in the admissions process. I’m willing to transfer in after a good freshman year at a different university.”
Don’t plan rejection!

As you can see from my SAT score, math is not my strong point. So in sophomore year I did poorly in Algebra II and Chem. The problem is that I’m not interested in math, so more of my efforts go towards the social sciences/english.

I am definitely taking advantage of the summer months to study hard for the math section.

Haha the recs/essays won’t be a problem at all.

I’m not planning for rejection, but I’m just preparing for the worst…just in case.

Unfortunately, being weak in math isn’t a very good excuse. Primarily because if you’re weak in the subject, you should study it MORE, rather than working on the subjects you’re doing just fine in.

Just pointing out that this is the one thing which might give the admissions counselors pause. And if your recs and essays are as great as you say they will be, you’ll probably be okay, and if that’s the case: learn the studying delegation lesson now, 'cause you’ve got a great big Core curriculum ahead of you.

Good luck!

Hey I’m a nerd too! Your GPA is kinda low for UChicago, but other than that you have a decent chance. GOOD LUCK!

Oxalis - I know, I know. Very true.
