ANY ADVICE TO BOOST MY ECs?

Hook?
Dual Canadain/American citizen

Also, I am one of my class’s strongest writers (despite my low sat score), so I should be able to write a pretty good essay

THANKS!

I’d say you have a chance. I know uchicago really likes ECs so anything else you can do through school or community would really help. They also put a ton of emphasis on your essays and those essays are accessible online if you look hard. Chance back

Yeah I’ve already started working on my entrance essay. My goal is to write all of my essays before school starts so I don’t have to worry about it when I’m taking 5 ap classes.

The Chicago prompt I’m answering is “Find X.” I’m planning on using a big math extended metaphor. Should be great

That’s exactly what I’m doing. I have 5 APs and it will be too busy once school starts. I’m also probably going to write on “Find X”. I’m just brainstorming different random ideas until I find one that I’m content with.

For me, it helps to carry around a pencil and paper. I can’t even count how many times I’ve had a really great idea while falling asleep, in the shower, or somewhere else where I’m unable to write it down.

We have almost the same applicant profile (numberwise).
I got in EA. Nail your essays. Do something quirky in them. Take a risk. I did-evidently it worked.
However if your essays aren’t particularly strong, you probably won’t get in.
But since you say you can write pretty well, I’d say strong chances!

May I ask what you wrote about?

I’m interested in philosophy (not planning on majoring) and my dad has his masters in philosophy. He and I have had quite a few interesting conversations. I don’t have many friends that have deep ideological, theological, philosophical talks with their parents, and I was hoping that I could stand out by writing about my own.
