UChicago Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

That’s a classic Sunny moment. It’s a miracle Charlie is even alive. Haha I loved the Flowers for Charlie episode, where he thought he was a genius. Oh man

@mollikinz I cannot stand Betty but I feel bad for her, it seems like she’s just stuck and never happy.
I think my favorite Roger episode was when he spent the night with all the hippies to get his daughter to come back.

Always Sunny is honestly the best. My brother and I watched it so much that when he got his own dog he named it Cricket.

@bella913 I really didn’t like Betty for a while but the way the show is structured seems to make the audience dislike her. Even though we see Don doing all the things he’s doing, I feel like a judge Betty more when she acts similarly because the show is Don-centric. Betty’s narrative reminds me of the Feminine Mystique which is sad.

Oh, and how could I forget Joan, my queen?

@mollikinz Joan is everyone’s queen.

I want all of you to know that I’m putting up a facade on college confidential with my proper capitalization, punctuation, and grammar. I feel like a 40-year-old when I’m on this website.

This discussion is honestly the best distraction.

Favorite historical event/time period?

@Indigoraccoon4 Progressive Era, Roman Empire or early Mesoamerican civilizations.

taking down the Berlin Wall…family was there

@Indigoraccoon4 definitely world war II

funny story…my great grandad was one of the captains guarding archduke franz ferdinand…when he was assassinated

@Indigoraccoon4 Renaissance for sure, the arts were lit

@Indigoraccoon4 I enjoy learning about the 60s and the Vietnam War. I also loved learning about the French revolution and the art that came out of the era.

But if I could choose to go back to any time period I wouldn’t choose to return to either of those lol

Speaking of the 60s, what kind of music do you guys like? I have a wide range but I love

whoops didn’t finish, I love the protest songs of that era.

this is bringing back memories of that historical mashup prompt :)>-

@jacobpilawa I am very left. Like I read Marx and Machiavelli for fun lol. Activist for social justice, anti-imperialism, anti-israel… the whole nine yards haha

@bella913 are we talking wide view here because I’m ranging from baroque era classics to deep house haha

@bella913 was legit about to ask that next.
First time periods are colonial America and civil rights. Internationally the Tudor era is fascinating to me.

Music is hard, I listen to so much. Going off the historical thing though my APUSH teacher had playlists for every era and I loved the civil rights ( Glory playlist) & we had a great middle east playlist.
