Deferred and I wrote a really specific essay to UChicago and about my time in a coma. EA. Test score optional and strong extracurriculars.
Someone should put a banner at the this forum’s dashboard. DO NOT apply EA at UChicago. Totally waste of time and money.

I did not have super impressive stats like many other applicants but I went hard on my extracurriculars and talked about them in my essays. Consequently, I think that is why I was admitted.
Remember, it is not always the highest stats, they are looking to create a well rounded freshman class. If everyone had the same stats, it would be pretty boring.
For all that got in, well done, you should be proud as you worked very hard to get this opportunity. For those of you who got deferred you never know, fingers crossed and for those of you who got rejected, there is another great college who will be lucky to have you!

Does UChicago take ANYONE EA? Everyone seems to have gotten deferred or rejected who applied EA. I got deferred. Now deciding if I should go ED II or RD. I really like Chicago but I don’t like feeling of being bound.

I could not be happier that my D was deferred at Uchicago. To know that she is competitive with the top students in the country has given her such a sense of accomplishment. She applied w/out SAT scores. Although she was above 90% for SAT, she probably would have been denied outright before Uchicago made SAT/ACT scores optional. She is highly competitive in all other aspects of her application, so the fact that Uchicago is giving her a chance to show that she would be a good fit, is a real blessing to someone who has worked so very hard to be where she is today.

What percent of EA kids get deferred? 70% deferred, 10% accepted and 20% rejected?
