Today I got bombarded with questions asking when I hear back. Telling them in less than 24 hours was probably one of the most stressful things I’ve done. This whole day I tried taking my mind off of it and it was just a constant reminder that tomorrow is D Day. I don’t think I’m sleeping one bit tonight…just going to pull an all nighter and hope for the best tomorrow.

@footiesc7 I know how you feel. Knowing how soon it is makes me realize how much the answer is going to affect my life. Hoping for the best for you! Just power through some homework to put it off your mind!

To be honest, I’m not overly worried about what time the decisions will be released. In fact, I’m trying to work on an English paper right now… but I’m procrastinating. At least my mind is off of college admissions for now.

What’s your paper on?

I’m an international so I’ll have to wait till the wee hours of the morning… :P

@yangmaster: Same here! Doing a comparative one on Jane Eyre and The Bell Jar

But seriously guys, I haven’t been able to sleep at all. I’ve been obsessively re-watching The Big Bang Theory (currently on Season 3).

Jane Eyre is such a cute book. Every time I finish reading it, I literally speak like a Victorian woman. “Oh now I shall retire into my bedroom to slumber”. lol

Oh man, I remember reading Jane Eyre for high school… when I was twelve. Not fun. Managed to get an A in the class, but I decided that would be my last high school class until I was 14, lol. I need to see if I still have my copy, now that I’d understand most of it a lot better…

@International95 - LOL but I swear, half of the vocab I had in my SAT were from Jane Eyre. Also, where are you from, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m an international as well (Hong Kong)

@Jasoncheung - I am going to pull an all-nighter, no lie.

Really? haha. Damn, I don’t remember seeing any words from Jane Eyre on my SAT test. Words like ‘abstemious’ and ‘avaricious’ came but I knew them because of English classes.

I’m from somewhere in Eurasia/Asia. Let’s just be vague. lol.

@International95: I had opprobrium, effluvium, and animadversion, lol. Sometimes I wonder what College Board is thinking

@Torvor: Hahaha I think Jane Eyre is one of those books that you need to re-read over and over to appreciate the full extent of its awesomeness, so do read it! Though to be honest, Wuthering Heights > Jane Eyre IMO (/r/Literature)

I got sick today and have been sleeping for 7hrs. Now it’s 12, I’m still sicker than I don’t even know, and I have to study for finals tomorrow… Oh, and my mom just forced night-quil onto me.

You guys really shouldn’t worry. You all have extremely exceptional apps with high test scores etc. & great essays. Take pride in your app, accepted or not, it can never reflect you in your entirety.

@marshmellowish I’m going to guess you’re right, I’ll have to download a copy or something. Never read Wuthering Heights though. The list of classical books I’ve read is pretty pitiful, which is something I’m going to try and work on. Any suggestions to start with?

@carter001 Hope you start feeling well. Besides, studying for finals is overrated.

Lol those words… omg. I can see the Latin roots but I would not have been able to figure out what they exactly mean. #thankgod

Does anyone else here simply despise Jane Austen? Her books are sooooo… un-relatable. I used to doze off when I had to read her books for my Lit class. It took a lot of convincing to have my teacher change the reading list to include stuff like Ethan Frome rather than Pride and Prejudice.

@International95 I remember my sister hating Pride and Prejudice, btu I’ve never read any Jane Austin… yet. Are her works really that bad?

Well not all of them. I believe she did produce some Gothic literature (Northanger Abbey)? That should be okayyy, probably. I think pretty much all Gothic classics are interesting to read. But stuff like Pride and Prejudice omg I just want to tear my eyes out.

They are not bad, haha. They are just not very appealing unless you can relate to them. But that is my opinion. Some may be into marriage and glamorous (pre?)Victorian parties and stuff like that. I know my friend certainly is into Jane Austen. “When will I find my Mr. Darcy?!” Goodness.

Lol. I can tolerate stuff like that, and will probably read it for it’s value in the world of historical literature, but I’m far more into a little mystery and action in my books. For example, I did enjoy The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Well give it a shot. lol. If you finish it in one go you will be my hero.

I just downloaded it on my tablet, I guess I’ll start it now. Who knows, maybe it will put me to sleep, lol

I like Jane Austen. Persuasion is my favorite book by her, though I loved P&P. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a modern adaptation of P&P in webseries format that I absolutely adore. It makes the story a bit more relatable, too, because all the characters are living in the present.
