less than a week left then! good luck to everyone
anybody went to UChicagoās summer immersion? yāall should have an uchicago outlook email right⦠Why its theme color changed from uchicago red to blue today>
They defer EA applicants and ask them to commit to ED2. An ED1 applicant would already be committed. Some ED1 applicants do get deferred, but there is not the same motivation to get them to commit.
I donāt see it. What is their insta?
Do they not accept a lot of people EA?
ED applications seem to have increased at many schools this year.
I am not sure of the exact statistics about this. It certainly feels that not that many applicants are accepted in the EA Round, but many are deferred and ultimately become accepted. With ED 1 and 2 combined, a large majority of the class comes from those rounds.
It just seems odd that UChicago would offer an EA round only to defer the vast majority of applicants in an attempt to get them to commit to ED2. If this is the case, then why have EA in the first place?
Possibly to increase yield rate?
Top schools care about their yield. Schools that offer ED fill about 30-40% of their incoming class from this pool. Students who submit an EA application and are deferred often change their application to ED2 to increase their odds of getting accepted. EA is helpful for international students who are waiting on their home country options (example in the UK would be UK uni offers). If you are deferred under EA, and you switch to ED2, you are letting the university know you are my top choice now.
Do you guys still have application withdrawal button in the portal?
I do see a link for Application Withdrawal Form.
