My daughter got rejected by Duke and deferred EA by UChicago. She doesn’t want to ED2 but is also nervous if her essays, stats and recs are good enough.
Any advise on if she should think differently about how she has written her essays before applying to RD schools?
Wait, your kid was deferred at Yale(according to a different thread) and rejected at Duke and also deferred EA at Chicago? Do you have multiple kids applying because I don’t think you can apply to each of these three schools early?
It is hard to assess if she has a chance in regular without more information on her course rigor, scores, gpa, ECs. ED2 at a slightly less difficult school might make sense.
The Yale post was by mistake. It’s Duke and UChicago that my daughter had applied to. Since she has been deferred EA, I wanted to check if she should rethink anything about her essays?
According to the information offered by the Admission Office of UChicago, they don’t want you to rewrite essays. Please see the details below. A letter of Continued Interest is good enough.
Where did you see this “dont” list? Where can you find the “do” list?

Is anyone here waiting for the ED2 decision? The thread is so quiet. I assume it will come out this Friday.
We’ve been checking back and wondering the same. We thought notifications would be by Feb 15, but based on last year, might be Friday the 9th.

Aah it’s freaky seeing the register page in the source page on the portal, reminds me decisions are so close
where do you see this?
Double Click, Inspect, go to the Source page in the tabs at the top and you’ll see a register file
Any astrology here? I noticed there was something related to the Withdraw Button for the ED1 round.
If you go onto the portal, Inspect Element then click on the sources page, you’ll see a couple dropdowns, drop the register file down and click on the orange “embed.js” file. Then near the top of this box you’ll see a couple lines (at the left is status, then embed.css then register.id/). Double click on the register.id thing and click on copy link address, and put the link into another tab. You might see a this link is unsafe thing but go through it, and you might see some code, which could be a sign.

I didn’t find anything but the link to update personal information. I don’t think it means anything currently as the decisions are yet to be uploaded.

At this time, we have processed all of your application materials, and our committee is in the process of finalizing decisions for Regular Decision and Early Decision 2. We will notify you via email when your admissions decision is ready to be viewed; we expect to release admissions decisions in mid-February for ED2 and mid-March for Regular Decision and will share our decision release date on our website when it is finalized.
So go to the portal do CTRL U then do CTRL F and search for admit. A weird link pops up… click that and a whole bunch of code appears… then do CTRL F and search for ‘admit’ again… see it 21 times. may mean nothing if everyone sees it… Decisions may be loaded… just not released
