son get deferred EA

I got rejected EA. Thought my uncommon essay was pretty good so a bit disappointed.

My son got deferred EA too. He is trying to decide if he should convert his application to ED 2 or not.

Got in!!!

Does anyone have any clue as to what the acceptance rate is for those who are deferred? It seems like very few, if any, people actually got in EA.

something like 0.5% unless you switch to ED2

Me too

EA deferral for my son too. For future reference, the withdraw application button did not disappear yesterday so yes, it may be an indication of deferral. Hang in there everyone, it will be a long few months.

Saw on Reddit a bunch of international admitted EA.

are you going to switch to ED2? i decided not to even though i know it’s basically throwing away any shot i have. i have several other schools that i’m waiting on and would rather have all my options than be bound to something

That’s exactly how my son feels.

does anyone know the regular decision acceptance rate? is there a much better chance of getting in ED II rather than regular decision?

Historically, ED2 has a higher acceptance rate than RD. It does, however, have a very strong applicant pool, as many students deferred from HYPMS type schools apply ED2 to UChicago. The RD acceptance rate was close to 2% last year. Tough admit either way.

How flexible is Uchicago with their financial aid if admitted EDII?
