UChicago First-Year taking your questions!

Hey pagrok, how tough is a philosophy and economic double major??? Haha, also hows the buyside/sellside (finance) on campus recruiting if you know anything. Thanks!!

1)Do most students find core helpful? In what way?
2)Do you guys have time to do ECs? Are clubs popular in Chicago or everybody just want to dig in piles of books?
Thanks for your answers! They really help!

I want to ask about financial aid. How much money does the university give in terms of grants and loans? And is there any student struggling with debt after graduation?

Hi! I am an incoming first-year student. What core humanity courses are considered to be mostly reading-based (and relatively easy and non-time consuming)? I am a science person and want to focus as much as possible on science courses. I enjoy reading literatures for my humanity sequence but don’t really appreciate writing a lot of essays. Thx a lot!

A little confused about why there is regular and honors organic chemistry. I thought regular organic chemistry is bad enough, why would honors be necessary? Especially at a school that already has such high standards

@SaphireNY It’s called torture. and it probably goes faster and is more focused on research or something. That’s what Honors Bio is.

@PagROK Would you consider a Economics + CS double major manageable? I mapped out all of the reqs, and it seems easy enough to graduate on time (and there are many quarters where I only need to take 3 courses). I don’t mind large workloads, but is it really hard to get A’s in the CS classes? Also, what is the intro sequence like for CS? Thanks so much!
