My daughter applied RD. She requested an interview through the portal before the option was taken down, but she has not been contacted for an interview yet. Should she contact her regional rep Mr. Pennisi or wait?
@UChicago When might ED II decisions come out?
@UChicago I cannot find the common data set on Uchicago web. Is this published? If not, what similar data is published? Looking for actual stats (raw data) on student body demographics and distribution of class sizes?
Hi @saln49 and @TheShortSon, At this point, a release date has not been finalized, but decisions will be released in mid-February.
Hi @Houston1021, Please feel free to check with Sam Pennisi, but keep in mind that alumni interviews will continue to be conducted throughout the next few weeks, so an interviewer might contact your daughter soon.
Hi @Haaland, The profile for the class of 2020 can be found at http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/page/profile-class-2020.
Hi @UChicago , I was a deferred ED applicant and emailed my letter of interest with a supplemental video yesterday. My admissions counselor has not replied or acknowledged that they have received it, should I be worried that it may get lost amongst the many emails they receive? Should I save it as a PDF and upload it to my portal? Thank you very much in advance.
@UChicago , As an accepted international student, I was wondering how long it usually takes for one to receive the admitted students material (things like the legendary UChicago scraf) as I have yet to receive mine. Thanks in advance.
Hi @Nibbles360, If you sent the e-mail yesterday, there’s no need to be worried. Feel free to circle back with your admissions counselor in a couple of days.
Hi @ScrnNme, Congratulations on your admission! You should have already received the materials, so please contact your admissions counselor.
Hello @UChicago, Is the date for the release on 15th Feb ?
Hello @UChicago I just got waitlisted ED-II ! What is the recent statistics about potential waitlist acceptance and what should I do to improve my chances? update file, midterm report, extra recommendation letter, interview with the dean GC call/letter etc,?
UChicago is absolutely my first choice even though I got accepted some where else!
Do you rank OR priority wait-list students? Can I call and to check where I might be on the list and will you make offers before May1 or thereafter?
Thanks in advance
Hello @UChicago, I am an accepted ED applicant who will be attending the school this fall However, my final semester 2 high school transcript grades have dropped from my grades that I had when I got accepted (went from all As to 5 As, 1 B and a D in one subject). Is it possible that my offer will be rescinded? I still have my final IB exams which I plan to study hard for and hopefully go back to getting all As again. Will the admissions office consider looking at my final IB grades for the subject i got a D in if I do considerably better in the final exams?
Hi @UChicago , I am an accepted ED II applicant who plans on attending (obviously). I originally indicated that I would be applying for financial aid, but I never uploaded my worksheet and parents’ tax forms mostly because I figured it would be a waste of time because I would never get in. Furthermore, my family’s financial circumstances improved a lot recently and I’m fairly sure we WOULD be able to pay full tuition and would not receive need-based aid. My question is: am I obligated to upload my tax forms and worksheet, etc., even though I’m fairly sure I wouldn’t receive financial aid, or should I go ahead and pay the enrollment deposit now? I ask because the enrollment deposit statement says that “you have already received your financial aid package”, so I’m not sure if I’m allowed to confirm enrollment without having applied to financial aid because I indicated I would back in December and was exempt from the application fee under the No Barriers program. Second question: if I do apply for financial aid and upload my documents, how long will it take to receive my offer?
Hi @Aramian1, We do not need any additional materials from waitlisted applicants. Aside from filling out the waitlist response form, feel free to reach out to your regional counselor to reiterate your interest in UChicago. Our waitlist is unranked, and we will release final decisions from the waitlist by the end of May. Please feel free to visit http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/uncommon-blog/message-our-early-decision-ii-applicants for more information.
Hi @littlecutefishy, We expect students to maintain strong grades after being admitted, as we review midyear and final transcripts. We recommend that you reach out to your regional counselor to explain the situation and circumstances surrounding the grade.
Hi @silverguy, You can confirm your enrollment and deposit without applying for financial aid. It typically takes a couple weeks for admitted students to receive a financial aid award letter after all financial aid application documents have been submitted.
@UChicago, hello. This is a basic and perhaps silly question. How does the admissions department come up with its mailing list? Is it random, or based on psat or PLAN scores? My high school junior received a postcard invitation to the open house, as well as a letter and brochure. I realize that this was a mass mailing, but I’m wondering if it’s based on any preliminary information that may suggest that the student is a potential good candidate for admission. Thanks in advance.
@UChicago Thank you for your information. It makes me less nervous about waiting for a response from the admissions office at the end of May. I have a question for you that you probably have heard many times. What are my chances of getting in? My test scores both SAT and ACT are very low, I have taken seven AP classes in total, have done lot’s of extracurricular, but my grades have been dropping. I earned two Cs in two of my AP classes last year and one D- this last semester of my senior year in AP Calculus BC.
I just want to hear from someone who has experience about what goes on inside the office, if it’s worth waiting to get accepted. Because statistically, I zero chance of getting a spot.
I tried to get statistics on UChicago’s waitlist but I can’t find them anywhere, do you at least an estimate of how many students get waitlisted at UChicago?
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
IIRC 2% transition from waitlist to accept, most likely less due to EDII this year. Good luck.
Thank you… I’ll keep up the faith. :0)
Are you really sure you want to be admitted?
UChicago will be full of students that took the same courses and got As in all of them, along with strong ACT/SAT scores. And UChicago is known to be challenging for those kids as well.
@UChicago Hey, is probably might be a silly question, but when do admitted students receive the 2021 shirts? Do we get to chose our sizes?
@Blueskies4ever, There are two ways students can be placed on our mailing list. When students take PSAT, PLAN, or other standardized exams, they can check a box which basically asks if they would like to receive mail from colleges. Otherwise, students sign up for our mailing list online.
@ChocoBananos123, Waitlisted applicants should accept a place at another school by May 1st to ensure they have a college home for next year. The number of students accepted from the waitlist varies each year because it is determined by how many students accept their offers of admission.
@AshleyMisAwesome, Please reach out to your admission counselor, and they will be able to track the mailing. You can feel free to exchange for a different size if you visit campus.
