UChicago Questions? Ask an admissions counselor!

Hi

I am a student who was admitted to the class of 2021 through early decision. When I applied in November, I had applied with my high school transcripts as well as my predicted IB grades. Therefore, I’m wondering if it would be necessary to send all of my IB official grades to the University after it comes out in July, or just my transcripts?

Furthermore, if I want to transfer credit for some courses, should I send my IB scores immediately after they are released or should I wait until I attend the university in September?

I understand that the university requires my high school transcripts for this year as well. When is the deadline for submitting my transcripts?

Thank you for answering my questions. I have emailed my regional admissions counselor multiple times through internationaladmissions@uchicago.edu but have not received any replies, so had to post here instead. Is there any other way I can contact my admissions counselor?

@UChicago
Could I request an interview from my admission officer? cuz I have already requested one before RD notification date but no reply came out.
And by the way, my school counselor told me that he really wanted to recommend me through an email to my regional admission officer. If he has done so, would it cause an negative impact on my possibility of getting off the waiting list?
Thank you!

@littlecutefishy, I’m sorry about the delay! We do ask that you have both your official IB scores (once they are released) and final transcript submitted to UChicago. Please have your final transcript sent by July 1st.

@Momo0422, We are no longer conducting interviews for first-year applicants. Because interviews are based on the number of alumni we have in a certain time and area, we were not able to accommodate every interview request. Please note that not having an interview won’t negatively impact your application. Your application will also not be negatively impacted because your counselor sent a recommendation!

@CU123 Yes @Uchicago is conspicuously ignoring my very legitimate question.

@UChicago . Hello again! What constitutes a “significant drop in grades?” Is a 3.98 drop to a 3.5/3.33 unweighted (second semester) a significant drop? Thank you!

@UChicago can we know the exact day admissions will begin to reach out to waitlisted applicants and if it is done on a weekly basis (meaning every Friday starting tomorrow)? Also, will applicants be emailed or called?

@UChicago Hello Grace. About two weeks ago, I sent my regional counselor a statement of continued interest. But I have not yet received an acknowledgement email. Should I re-send it?

@AshleyMisAwesome, We review each situation individually, so without knowing circumstances or exact grades, it’s impossible to provide a definitive answer. We recommend that you reach out to your admissions counselor and explain the situation if you are worried.

@hopefullymaroon, Students that are admitted from the waitlist will be notified on an ongoing basis, typically throughout May. However, there are no set dates.

@MySweetestFoe, Please feel free to resend the message in order to ensure that your regional counselor has received it.

@Chrchill The fact that UC isn’t responding to you gives me renewed faith in their powers of discernment.

A question which is perhaps not entirely related to admissions, but I would think this is the place where I could expect the fastest response. How shall enrollment deposit be paid? Should it be a bank transfer, or is it possible to be paid using credit/debit card? There are very strict laws about international money transfers in my country, and therefore it would be much easier to avoid the legal complications.

@UChicago I was waitlisted and got a confirmation for my letter of rec. When can I expect the decision to be updated?

@ANormalSeniorGuy If you read the posts on the previous pages, you will see UChicago stating that early decisions for waitlisted applicants are released in April and most decisions will continue throughout May.

@exlibris97 Nice!

@Kaliningrad Credit card, at least that is how I paid.

Hi, @UChicago Will we be notified if we don’t get taken off the waitlist?

@UChicago When should admitted students expect to receive their UChicago student IDs by so they can begin making their email accounts?

@UChicago I should probably clarify, I meant the CNet ID.

@ScrnNme you can contact IT Help Desk and they will send you the link for your @ScrnNme

@UChicago @fbsdreams Ah, I should probably have said this already but I’m an international student. The process might be different since I don’t have a SSN nor any of the other possible forms of identification: Student ID, Alumni ID, ChicagoID, University of Chicago ISO Number. A friend of mine said he received his ID number (not CNet) with his i20, but I reckon that’s after the CNet creation deadline which is the end of this month.

@Kaliningrad, You can deposit using a credit/debit card through your UChicago Account. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your admissions counselor if you have any questions or problems.

@ANormalSeniorGuy, Most decisions will be released this month (May).

@karamuuu, All applicants, regardless of their decisions, will be notified.

@ScrnNme, Admitted students will start receiving communication from the College Programming Office (CPO) in a couple weeks. The CPO will provide you with the necessary information to create your CNet ID.
