<p>Quite saddened. Especially because my friend was accepted and she wasn’t nearly as interested in the school. Oh well…</p>

<p>Waitlisted people: how confident were you that you were going to get in?(realistically) Just wondering…I was feeling good.</p>

<p>I was feeling absolutely not good and it was a miracle just to be waitlisted…</p>

<p>UChicago was my first choice and I really do think I would have fitted in really well there.</p>

<p>Having said that, I have to move on after being waitlisted so I’m wondering how much more competitive a school like Yale is in regular than UChicago in regular. </p>

<p>Also do you think UChicago monitors interest? I never formally met with an admissions officer, never asked for an interview, and never did anything except send some updates (I’m on a gap year) 2 or 3 weeks ago in which, near the end of the letter, I professed that UChicago is my top choice. Because I’m on a gap year in a remote country where there are most likely no alums, I didn’t contact any school for interviews.</p>

<p>Edit: I know Yale and UChicago look for different things or will have different needs each year, but if you take a big picture statistical approach, would anyone have any ideas?</p>

<p>Honestly, I had fully anticipated being rejected. I didn’t start my application until two days before the deadline because I was so convinced there was no point in even applying. My extracurriculars were fairly impressive but my GPA (3.83 UW) and my ACT (32) were very average. I was shocked (in a good way) that I was waitlisted.</p>
