UChicago Supplemental Essay

<p>OK, can someone please help me and please read my UChicago Supplemental Extended Essay. I litterally just wrote this and would like for someone to tell me how it sounds and the overall feel of it. Thank you to whomever gives feedback :slight_smile:

<p>Here is the prompt:
Dog and Cat. Coffee and Tea. Great Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye. Everyone knows there are two types of people in the world. What are they? </p>

<p>The Essay:
Quite simply, there are the haves and the have nots. A cat has impeccable balance although a dog does not. Tea lacks the bitter taste coffee has. Holdnen Caulfield tells spectacular lies while Nick Carraway prides himself on being the most honest person he knows. Although these definitive divisions were introduced to me while studying the distribution of the African continent amongst European powers during the age of Imperialism, they are nonetheless timeless. Consequently, they will inspire allegations that such a divide will instigate disparity and social upheaval; for instance, a person seems to have it all while another has virtually nothing. However, in my opinion, there is a certain je ne sais quoi to the concept of the haves and the have nots, which inspires a nearly painstakingly obvious result: the desire to advance.
Now, in terms of materialistic items, the having or not having concept is all too apparent. Either a person does or does not have a car, an iPod, the best cutlery, or own a home; a person cannot very easily project a fa</p>

<p>I don’t think it’s a good idea to put your essay here.
I just give my first impression. Well, it’s tooooo long and thus, appears murky. You may want to write it in a more clear way…</p>

<p>^^ I know its long, but the application said to make it a 1-2 page long, and so i made it cover 1 and 1/4 of page :S But otherwise, do u think its a good essay???</p>

I think ur main idea is there, but it seems as if u are rambling, like you are writing down whatever you are thinking.
I think you shld break down ur paragraphs into small parts. Long paragraph looks boring</p>
