Well, this is certainly an unexpected wrinkle. Previously, EA had a small acceptance advantage over regular admission. I expect that to go away now.

Well, they do list “level of applicant’s interest” as “considered” at http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=327 . So either of the ED options would let the applicant show the highest possible level of interest.
