Uci acceptance

What the **** I’m so *ed we better hear something today this * is just ********. We better not be waiting this long just to be rejected.

I still call BS on the whole… “we’re still going through applications” thing. I’m pretty confident that they’re finished. What MIGHT have happened is that a lot of people ended up fulfilling their TAG agreement and they’ve additionally accepted too many extra people especially for the particular majors we applied to. We just had the unfortunate circumstance of being somewhat in the midst of the borderline acceptance range ANDDDDD at the bottom of the evaluation pile. I don’t think they WANT to reject us, (because they’re supposed to be judging students fairly and not reject people whose application they happened to encounter last) but waiting it out and seeing the SIR response is the only way they can figure out how to deal with us. Ultimately, they probably had too high of an acceptance rate in the beginning of applications and since a lot of us either have a lower GPA or other random circumstances (OOS, missing pre-reqs).

tl;dr If they had enough space, I think the majority of us would be accepted (seeing as how we haven’t been rejected yet & our apps have most likely been looked at), but since they don’t, they’re waiting it out to see admitted applicants decisions.

Killmyentourage, I sometimes think that too. Stay positive though, we’ll get through this. I’m sure not ALL of us psych majors are rejected. Is this major impacted?

Which is why I think that they already accepted too many psych majors and offering additional people admittance might overfill certain classes. Otherwise, I doubt it’s a coincidence that a ton of people in here are psych or psych related. I’m actually Bio & Bioeng which are both impacted already but I’m betting any amount of money that if psych isn’t already considered an impacted major this year, that it definitely will be next year.

[Ms. Sun’s UC Admissions Blog](http://askmssun.livejournal.com/)

She posts an update on the 3rd about transfers, tags, etc. There she says only 300 applications remain. I wonder if that’s us? Or if that number is inaccurate.

I heard UCSD is putting people on waitlists. They better not make us wait this long just to put us on waitlists.

Man… i almost wish they would have released a waitlist so we had somewhat of a chance. I hope all the higher end gpa psych majors would go to ucla or cal and leave room for me at uci. :P

Its like we’re in the eye of the storm … calm and then BAAAM!! Admission decisions sent out all over the place.

It might be relatively accurate. To be perfectly honest, last year they received 60,000 applications. This year, I’m sure that number has increased and 300 is a very small percentage (0.5% of applicants) - an even smaller percentage if the applicant numbers are greater than 60,000. If they could complete 99.5% by May 1st, I’m incredibly sure that they would’ve been able to complete an additional 300 within a week. Since a few people were admitted a few days ago, it seems like they’re admitting students from certain majors with presumably better stats - meaning that a TINY bit of space leeway opened up so they took students that exceeded the GPA cutoff. At this point, I still think the admissions decision is up in the air.

There are so many complications with releasing decisions late in the UC system. Schools like USC and other private schools (and CSUs) can have a later date since they aren’t affiliated and you would only lose a deposit. But since all the UCs are interrelated, accepting one admission could potentially revoke another. All of the UCs also have specific deadlines published for certain things and the fact that UCI and UCSB didn’t abide by the that date when they are part of this system is really disappointing. For example, the application for Summer Financial Aid was due on May 2nd for UCR (which is the backup for a lot of people) and students waiting on their UCI admissions are being deprived of this.

It’s *****. I know A TON of people that aren’t even gonna go to *ing UCI and got accepted. UCI SWEARS all the people they’ve admitted are going to go there. Alot of the people with HIGH GPAs also applied to UCLA and UCSD which are great psych schools and HMMM when faced with the decision UCI or UCLA OR UCSD you’d be a *ing fool to go to UCI. They aren’t going to get the admitted psych students with a GREAT GPA, because those applicants likely got into BETTER SCHOOLS so UCI is gonna be stuck with us… they might as well just let us the * in already or reject us. It’s ********.

Where did you read 60,000? I thought they had around 13,000? I know Davis was somewhere at ~14,000, but they only took 2800 students.

This is really horrible though. I hope enough people SIR to other schools for us to get openings at UCI.

ughhh this is all so depressing. I mean like if they’re gonna reject me just do it now!

666666677777, your anger entertains me. I can only imagine the words behind yhose stars.

@ jenk21 that’s exactly how I feel. Do they really think I have a chance and they’re just waiting it out? If I get accepted I’m gonna do a backflip! 300 more applicants waiting is a lot though. Hopefully my essays were convincing and they like my ecs =)

@fern37
it’s driving me crazy to be honest because I think too much about it. I’m sooo gonna get my drink (responsibly of course :P) on if I end up getting in haha

My essays are solid, I have work experience and I was Vice President of a club so hopefully that works in my favor

I meant 60000 total applications including freshman.

Yeah it’s gonna be a celebration!!! Too bad we haven’t heard back yet cuz it’s Cinco de Drinko today!

lol well you guys KNOW HOW I FEEL. It *ing sucks. I’m sick of this *. I can’t get even type out a sentence about UCI without saying *. I’m just so *ed off. They better not keep pushing off our decisions. I AM *ING praying that they dont wait to tell us AFTER they tell the waitlisted people or maybe theyre waiting to tell us hoping we already decide on other schools… IDK I dont *ing know. F U C K UCI

if I wasn’t a poor college kid, I would buy you all shots if we got accepted. Waiting to hear back from them is torture.
