advice for everyone on college confidential: don’t assume that its the end of acceptances WE NEVER KNOW plus this year’s schedule has been different from prev years so we cant jump to conclusions.
the previous year, sunday acceptances were released and they did it for approx three days-fri,sat,sun (releasing large wave of acceptances throughout the day). it wasn’t the case this year. Many acceptances were in the evening on friday and nothing was released during day time (tracked in multiple websites). saturday- only happened in the morning nothing after 2 pm so there is hope for more acceptances. AND for those people who think that the acceptance are over, they won’t release everything in one shot because it can clog up their server so they have to do multiple batches of acceptances. HAVE HOPE
Son waitlisted for CS. Already accepted by CSULA. Cal Poly LA, UCR and UCSD (all CS). also accepted by UCSB (no major).
I’m not sure when the decision was posted because I never got an email, but I checked my portal around 7:40 PST after my friends told me they were waitlisted.
SAT 1490, GPA 4.33. tennis varsity team captain. rejected by UCLA (CS).
everyone who haven’t heard back from UCI at my school got waitlisted so im pretty sure acceptances are over meaning i got rejected
Yeah, now
@FlyYellow
Thank you for the explanation. My older D is in her 4th year at Cal Poly. She has had a great experience there.
I am a long time lurker to this site, having navigated our third child through the admissions process. My daughter got waitlisted today in Theater (4.0 unweighted, took every AP class, 1470 SAT, good essays, no admissions hooks). In the 6 years between our oldest and youngest child, the admissions process has become demonstrably more competitive, bordering on the absurd. I believe there are a few reasons for this: as private school tuition rises, more families than ever turn to the UCs; this year UCI is becoming much more cautious (selective) due to the recent fiasco where 1000 more kids accepted their offers than anticipated; and UCs have placed such an emphasis on admitting first gen, lower income students that those without these hooks are almost forced into a lottery system. You can see countless examples of students whose stats would have gained them admission in years past now getting waitlisted/rejected. Perhaps this cautious approach means that more will be admitted off of the waitlist this year?
We were so turned off by this rolling admission policy that today’s waitlist decision was frankly a relief. Our son is currently a sophomore at UCI and is enjoying it, so hopefully those who choose to go will also have a great time. Our daughter was admitted to UCSD, UCSC, Reed College, Santa Clara University, and University of San Diego, waitlisted at UCSB and UCI, and rejected at Notre Dame, UCLA and Chapman (a bit of a shock, but Theater is a tiny department just about everywhere). We don’t qualify for any aid, so it looks like UCSD for the win!
Best of luck to everyone!
S waitlisted this afternoon for business information systems… 4.13 uc GPA, 1260 sat, took all the ap/honors classes that his private school offered. (2 college coarses) varsity soccer and badminton, 4 years select choir, great essays… got into ucr and ucdavis (statistics), rejected from ucsb, hoping for ucb… after all this waiting, it’s going to be hard to say yes to even a waitlist at uci… we will see… for you students… 2 years after college, nobody even asks you where you went anymore… get a college degree and then go out in the world and do something great
I literally read through last year’s feed and 2017 it’s consecutively a/w/r… Omg I’m so stressed
Yeah I was reading through this feed too and its been all acceptances, then all waitlists, so I’m honestly expecting the worst…
@“kpk.19” yea it has looked like that but someone on reddit said UCI Admissions office said there are some acceptances left but idk.
Waitlisted for poli sci earlier today. W gpa: 4.73 uwgpa: 4.0. Kinda confusing cause I got into UCSB. From what I’ve seen it’s all waitlists and rejections from now.
My son got rejected for CS at all UCs he applied to and waitlisted at all CSUs he applied to.
UCI is the only school he hasn’t heard from and at this point it’s looking like another rejection unfortunately.
UC GPA- 4.05
SAT- 1390 (740 M / 650 WR)
He did get admitted to UCR but for his second choice major.
Wishing him & everyone else who is on the same boat good vibes and good luck. Be awesome where ever you end up!
I’m just confused because I haven’t heard anyone w my major get accepted on any platform.
Are waitlist over or are there going to be more?
the reddit post did say that uci admissions are still rolling out and why would they lie to us about it also its on twitter that admission is rolling out this entire week so acceptances are still coming
