I’m going to appeal as well. The worst they can do is say “no” (again) and if so…well UCR is going to have a rad Class of 2018

Yeah, I got rejected as well. Nice talking to you guys!! CC here I come!

I’m appealing. I got nothing to lose. So it’s UCR( maybe SB if i get lucky with the waitlist).

See you all at UCR! It was a pleasure the past few days stressing over UCI with you guys haha. It’s really unfortunate it ended like this but at least we still have UCR to fall back to. Hope to see you guys next year! I already did some research and I’ll probably be applying to Lothian (East if possible) with A.I as my 2nd choice for a triple dorm. :)>-

Sad to see so many qualified applicants get rejected from UC Irvine and other great UC’s like SB and SD. But at least you can expect UCR to have a heck of a good class of 2018 because of it

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My low GPA pulled me down to the depths of college admissions hell…rejected from UCLA, UCI, UCSB, UCSD, and UCD. Accepted to UCR, CSUF, CSULB. I took too many AP classes my junior year, which tanked my GPA (AP US History + AP Biology + AP Calculus + AP English = death)[/li][/ul]General Comments:[list]
Planning on going to a CSU/CC and then transferring to USC to major in broadcast journalism. I guess it’s not the end of the world because I can save a couple thousand dollars by going to a CC/CSU first. Best of luck to the rest of you guys! I know you’ll do amazing no matter where you end up.

So I just got an email that my status has been changed but based on how many rejection letters that have been sent out, I don’t know if I even want to check…

@clarissabby well let us know if you did! good luck

I checked the link and it says to include a check payable to UC Regents but it doesn’t specify the amount. Does anyone know how much the appeal check is?

My friend hasn’t heard back yet. Do you think there are any more acceptance batches left? She’s in-state, if that helps.

Guys should I go to ucr and transfer to ucla, ucb, uci, ucsb or coummunity? Will it be harder from a UC
Will it be worse to transfer from sdsu?

@firstgenblackman UC to UC transfer is doable but harder as UCs give CC transfer students priority. I’m actually starting to explore the CC option and might go to a CC instead of UCR.

UC to UC transfers or CSU to UC transfers are probably the hardest to do. Most UC’s will leave open slots for the CC transfers and TAG transfers. It is possible but you need to have a really high GPA to accomplish the transfer. I would check the Transfer Admission Threads for this year, there is one dedicated to UC to UC transfers to get an idea of their stats. I think once you start either UCR or SDSU, you might change your mind and stay. My younger S was accepted to both and chose SDSU for CS. Good Luck. I think both schools have a great opportunities.

@firstgenblackman there is a guarantee between UCLA and some community colleges (specific ones, I think you have to go to the list at the UCLA transfer page) Berkeley may have similar. The other UCs (including UCSB and Davis) have them as well but also do ‘TAG’ which is a guaranteed transfer if you make certain grades and satisfy certain requirements. The counseling office at any decent CC would be able to help you with that. You CAN transfer from CSUs and UcS but the preference for policy reasons (they WANT people to go CC) is first and most from CCs, then from UCs and then CSUs. UCLA and Berkeley don’t participate in the GUARANTEED transfer from CCs but they do accept a lot of transfers from CCs.

So if your absolute ultimate goal is to go to a UC other than Riverside, CC is the most certain way to get there. However, UCR is a great university and while you couldn’t count on being able to transfer out, you would get four years of a UC education there.

SBCC is a great CC and you don’t have to TAG UCSB from there unless you decide to, but I don’t know if it is one of the ones that has an agreement with UCLA. http://www.sbcc.cc.ca.us/

It is really a matter of what is important to you.

Good luck!

rejected and sad

accepted : cal poly slo, ucsb, ucd, univ of washington, UCI, UCR

my son will choose CAL POLY SLO.
