Congrats to everyone who got accepted! It’s been a long stressful journey for all of us.
For those who got accepted - it says you must maintain a senior weighted GPA of 3.0… I am beyond terrified because there is a slight chance I will be getting 2 C’s… in AP Gov, and AP Calc AB. Will this get me rescinded? My weighted GPA will be over 3.0 but it looks like I am slacking off, when in reality, I am just struggling with classes I find difficult. :-SS

@helloxsarah It won’t get you rescinded as long as you maintain your GPA above a 3.0. It’s D’s and F’s that you have to worry about!

You’re fine. Just do your best.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Who knows? I still think I owe it all to my personal statement[/li][/ul]General Comments: The best of luck to all of you and make the best out of a bad situation.

I really don’t understand this: my D was rejected from UCI with a much much better stats than what I see on this list for some applicants. She has a SAT of 2180 and a UC GPA of 3.76. And her hook was that she had health issues because of which her 10th grade GPA was less pulling down her average GPA. She got accepted into UCD, UCSB, UCSC and UCR and we think that UCD is better rated than UCI and why would UCI reject her. She evern had got a Supplemental Questionnaire from UCI and inspite of that, they rejected her!
Really upset with the way the admission-officers think and work!!!

@DIBM96 I understand, but I would say thank you to UCI for opening the door to a better opportunity somewhere else. Don’t dwell on this and hopefully your D will find the right school. I think my eyes are wide open on their admission process and for the next two students I have coming down the admission pike, we will be skipping UCI and SLO.

@liveonboca: Thank you! Yeah, I have been consoling my D that it does not mean that she is under qualified for
UCI by any means and that it all depends on what mood these admissions officers are in the day her application was read. Her thought is that economical adversity is given a better treatment than a disability issue and I find that so very unacceptable. If the kid has to battle her health issues and do the best that she can and still can be compared with others in terms of her course load (she has 11 AP courses to her credit and a AP scholar with Distinction), I don’t understand how the admissions officers cannot see that in the big picture. Is GPA everything then? I too am very confused on what I should advise for my second one who is a HS freshmen now.
These so-called Holistic colleges don’t seem to understand the meaning of being Holistic.

More than her, I wanted her to get into UCI due to the proximity that it has to where we live and Davis would be an 8-hr drive now…and my D having had health issues, I would have felt so very comfortable having her stay close to home. Oh well, everything we plan does not work…

I still haven’t heard anything… If it makes a difference i got the supplemental questionnaire about special talents and disabilities… I’m a Hispanic female with a legal guardian on a low fixed income and parents who are drug addicts…
Rejected from: call poly slo, ucsb, ucd
Accepted: fresno state, ucm, csulb, waiting for UCI

@DIBM96 I understand. My son and I selected Irvine because we live in NE Los Angeles and the location, for me, was close, but far away. LOL. Now he is deciding between CSULB, UCR and UCD and I know Davis is far, but only an hour or so by plane and tickets to the Bay Area/Sacramento pretty inexpensive and plentiful. I will be getting a Southwest Air Credit and JetBlue Credit card to start working on some free trips (thanks to a poster here on CC).

I know some of the acceptances and rejections have no rhyme or reason. I saw a big influx of OOS acceptances and low GPA’s so maybe these people are going to be FULL PAYS and others might be part of a school/school or service area connection. Again, we will never know, but UCI turned me off with the rolling admissions and the whole handling of it screams at me that their administration probably sucks with the same inconsistency and vagueness. I see UCSB, UCLA and UCD as handling admissions in a much better, organized and straightforward way. I hope that those schools’ administrations are as efficient and organized as the planning to release decisions.

Maybe you will be coming to Decision Day on April 5 at Davis? Good luck!

Yes, I will be coming to the Decision Day. I will private message you – and we we can try and meet since we are both in So. CA and you never know we can maybe carpool or something like that  Which Dept is your son going into? My D is a Psych major.

@lex2761IronHorse: Wishing you all the very best. From what I see, the UCI admission process handling seems to be very lame whereas UCSB and UCR seem to be very well-organized. So hang in there and I am sure you will hear soon…Again, all the very best – and dont worry – motivated students can thrive and do well in any school as long as they have the will power to succeed.

Decision: Daughter denied (decision released on Mar. 21)

CSU/UC W GPA: 3.96 (UW: 3.65)

SAT: 1770 (M: 640; CR: 610; W: 520)

ACT Comp: 26

AP/IB Classes: AP Euro, AP USH, AP Engl Lang/Comp, AP Bio, AP Env Sci, AP Calc BC, IB Hist, IB Psych, IB Engl Lit

Major: Undeclared in Social Ecology

Accepted: UC Davis, UCR, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU
Also denied: UCSB, UCSD

@DIBM96 - Have you considered appealing at UCI…not sure how the process works but if she has health issues and you would like her close to home, filing an appeal does not hurt. Good luck.

@DIBM96 UCR is still not done rolling out decisions they started back in January I wouldnt call them organized.

Are you serious… What’s up with these admissions???
